Hi I'm Sophia

"All we have is now." -Ezekiel

About Me

My parents were living in the mountains when I was born. I grew up in the hot desert, and made frequent trips to my family's cabin to escape the heat. I'm the oldest of four girls. And now live on the beautiful coast. I've spent the majority of my life painting. There is something amazing about being able to paint; the calm vibes I experience while painting are truly extraordinary. After graduating High School in Southern California, I was able to attend college where I studied Interior Design. After finishing my first year of college I received a call to serve a mission in the Eastern part of Santiago, Chile. I look forward to pursuing a degree in art therapy upon returning home from my mission. I enjoy the sweet serenity that can be felt by living life outside. I gather so much joy from being able to surf the swell and spend time in the vast ocean. A radical hike in the forest, a simple slacklining session, or just going out and skateboarding the streets can eliminate the gathered tension of life. To reconnect with my surroundings is something I strive to do on a daily basis. God lives.

Why I am a Mormon

Life has become extremely clear as I've chosen to be a converted member of this church. I feel complete peace while reading the Bible and Book of Mormon. I was born into this faith and grew up going to church every Sunday. I was a senior in High School when I decided to find out for myself whether or not what I had been raised in was true. I was seeking freedom and consequently spent time exploring other Christian faiths searching for this freedom. I couldn't seem to find peace anywhere I went and frequently got into trouble. I was on an extensive solo hike during this time when I felt prompted by the spirit to return to being a member of this church. I feel so blessed to be a Mormon. My life makes total sense and following the gospel of Jesus Christ leads me to do the right things in this life and helps me get through difficult trials in my life. Jesus Christ is the Savior of this world and died so that we could live. God loves everyone on this earth and wants all of us to enjoy life. I know with all my heart that this church is true and I continue to become converted to it every single day of my life.

How I live my faith

I've found that living my faith is something I do every day. Jesus Christ is the ultimate example of consistently living his faith. He unconditionally served all people no matter the circumstance. Sometimes it's the small and simple things around me that have the most life-changing affect in someones life. I find that when I seek out opportunities to help those around me that I forget myself and become fully immersed in selfless service, and my faith becomes something I live.
