Hi I'm Brenna

I grew up in Alaska. I'm an ocean rescue lifeguard. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a hiking enthusiast and enjoy spending as much time as I can in the mountains. Being from Alaska I really like snow and enjoy downhill skiing and cross-country skiing and I have even had the opportunity to coach a few cross-country skiing teams. I currently work as a lifeguard at the beach which means I get to spend quite a bit of time snorkeling and spending time around the ocean. One of my favorite things to do is to spend time with my family. I also love to learn about the human body, nutrition, and fitness. Because of these interests, I am studying Physical Education and Health Education and I hope to be a teacher and a coach someday!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of the church, so I was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I grew up going to church every Sunday with my family, learning about Jesus Christ and the gospel. I always knew that my parents knew that the gospel was true, so that was good enough for me. As I grew older, I slowly began to gain my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. As I studied the scriptures (especially the Book of Mormon) and said my prayers, I could feel the Holy Ghost testify to me that the things I was reading and learning about in church were true. I have grown my testimony slowly over the last 21 years, and I now know for myself that this church is true. When I live the gospel, I feel so much joy and peace. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and that He died for me so that I can live with my Heavenly Father again someday. By reading the Book of Mormon in addition to the Bible, I have learned about my Savior and I have grown closer to Him. I know the Book of Mormon is true because I have read it and prayed to know if it was true, and then received a witness confirming it is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that through him, Christ's gospel was restored to the earth. I also know that we have a living Prophet and apostles on the earth today who lead the church and provide us with the guidance we need to move forward. Living the gospel has given me the strength I need to face challenges, trials, and tribulations. I have chosen to be a member of this church because I know it's true, and I could not live without it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through small actions everyday. I study my scriptures everyday and say prayers to my Heavenly Father. I try each day to become more like my Savior and I try to find ways to serve my neighbors, family members, and others who live in my community. I attend church every Sunday where I have previously served as a teacher for the small children in my ward. I am currently preparing to serve a mission for my church during which I will sacrifice 18 months of my life to serve Heavenly Father and others and to teach them about Jesus Christ and his restored gospel.
