Hi I'm Genny

tulsa native. lover of people. runner. im a mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended a private, Catholic high school. My family was the only Mormon family in the school, but we loved it. We had endless opportunities to share the gospel, and we could set examples of how to live the standards of the Church. I attended the University of Oklahoma for my freshman and sophomore years. I was in a sorority, active in campus organizations, and attended the single's ward/Institute program on campus. I went there to have that "normal" college experience. I absolutely love living in the mission field because there are so many chances to share the gospel and be an example to others. I am about to leave on a full-time mission to Sacramento, and when I return, I will be attending college at BYU. I am a Public Relations major and Nonprofit Management minor. I love to travel abroad, go to the lake, go to football games, be with friends/family & be outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of this Church, however, my parents never forced anything on me. They truly taught me by example. I grew up going to church every Sunday and learning the gospel in my home. My own testimony slowly began forming when I would attend Church camps and activities. I was able to grow on my own, away from my parents' own testimonies. Leaving college, I knew I would continue practicing this faith because I know it is true. This gospel brings joy and comfort to my life. When I am doing the things I am supposed to be doing, such as praying, reading my scriptures, attending church meetings, I see the difference in my life. I never feel lost or without any answers. Heavenly Father is always there for me, and he has provided for me in more ways than I can explain. I am thankful to have been raised in the Church, however, I want to do my part as a Latter-day Saint and spread the gospel to everyone. It is the full truth that was restored by Joseph Smith. I know that The Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible, is the word of God. Every time I read it, I feel peace, but it also challenges me to live a better life. I am a Mormon because I know this Church has the fullness of the gospel, and that it will lead me back to live with my Heavenly Father, again.

How I live my faith

I try to not live my faith just on Sundays, but instead, everyday. I read my scriptures and pray everyday. This is a simple way to continue my relationship with my Heavenly Father and to continue my knowledge in the gospel. I attend Institute class, which is a scripture class for college students. This past year, we studied women in the scriptures. I love taking classes because I am able to learn so much from my teachers, who have years of experience in the scriptures. I attend church every Sunday, and I try to be engaged at church and focus. It is a time to put my phone away, and other distractions, and really learn the things I need to. I usually pray before church with questions or concerns I have. Every time I do this, my prayer is answered during the church meeting. I think a great way to live out faith is by serving others. It can be in the smallest way, but when we are putting others first, we are following the example that Christ set for us.
