Hi I'm Speedy Cabrera

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but grew up in San Diego, California, graduated a year and a half early, and I am a mormon.

About Me

I am the second out of five kids. Our family moved around a lot growing up, so I have been able to have a plethora of different kinds of experiences. When I was young, I struggled with depression and anger issues, which I have since gotten completely over. I have had the opportunity to travel a lot inside the US, and intend on traveling a lot around the world in years to come. In February of 2013, my parents decided to get divorced, two weeks after they split up, my dad wound up in the hospital and we found out that he had stage 4b liver cancer. He was given 3-6 months to live, and October of 2013, he passed away. I have a huge desire to have the opportunity to meet as many people as I can, and be inspired by them. the fact that we are all important, because we are all so capable of doing so much is so amazing to me. I am currently preparing to serve as a full time missionary for 18 months, leaving in the summer of 2015.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, because I love knowing that families can be together forever, and it doesn't just end after you die. Knowing that there is more to life than waking up every day, and going to work at the crack of dawn, and falling asleep when you get home is really important to me. also the fact that I can be forgiven of all of my sins, from the stupid everyday ones, like rolling your eyes unintentionally at someone, to a really serious sin. It is amazing to me how much Jesus Christ cares. It is so important to me. This gospel has saved my life. The atonement is an amazing thing, not only can it help you be forgiven of your sins, but it also heal your heart of all the hurt that has been caused to you. Without the hope that the atonement, I wouldn't be alive. because of it, I was able to know how to healthily not get angry, and be a peaceful person. Because I believe in the gospel, I know I will be able to have the opportunity to see my Dad again, and become friends with him (which unfortunately didn't happen while he was alive). One of the things that strikes me a lot, that is talked about a lot in the Church, is the worth of souls. That is so amazing to me, and it has helped my find my own worth. You are so strong, and you have the capacity to do so much, not only for yourself, but for everyone around you. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel of Jesus Christ doesn't only mean going to church every sunday, it means trying your best every day to emulate the Savior, in everything that you do. Its constantly a battle, but saying no, to things that you don't want in your live is a lot harder than it seems in your head, but sometimes you just have to do it, because what you want in the long run ends up being more important that what you want now.
