Hi I'm Matt

I'm a musician. Active Family History enthusiast. I am very thankful for my life and family on this Earth.

About Me

Growing up in southern Idaho could allow one to assume I was raised in the church. However, I have only been a member for what is almost a year (14 September, 2013). I am an active musician in Northern Colorado, avid temple history enthusiast, and active member of the LDS church. I enjoy all kinds of music and love performing.

Why I am a Mormon

Prior to joining the LDS Church, I was convinced I knew the answers to life. With the pride in my heart that was established by this philosophy, I quickly sought after drugs and other problematic recreational activities that were slowly eating away at my soul. As I continued to look for answers, more awful things happened. Close to the end of what may have been some of the worst months of my life, my parents decided they were to be divorced. This hurt me tremendously because of my love for the both of them. I was at the lowest point I have ever been in my entire life. And I know that happened for a reason. As I began to humble my self with the few things I had left, my loving Father in Heaven allowed me to be taught his gospel. Being very scared of my future, I was eager to begin learning of Jesus Christ and the restored church. Not too long after this experience, and my final meetings with the missionaries, I was eager to be baptized on the 14th of September, 2013. Knowing that families can be together forever allows me to have hope for things in my present life and my future. I know our Heavenly Father loves us. We are all his children and he knows all of us. He loves each and every one of you. If you are to take one thing from this brief "Why I am a Mormon" (I could go on for what is hours) I would ask that you remember this: Our Father in Heaven has a divine plan for each and every one of us. We are all special to him. As we begin to humble ourselves to be taught by him, not only will we grow; we will be happy. Happiness and love are the foundation of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

Demonstrating my faith in an area such as Colorado could be seen as a challenge. I see it as such a beautiful blessing. As I continue to live righteously in the name of Jesus Christ, I am a beacon to others who may be lost. I love the Gospel and the opportunity to share it with others. I know that my Father in Heaven loves me and I am so thankful for the opportunity to share it.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Matt
Matthew 3:15 truly demonstrates the perfect answer to this question. To be blunt: Christ was baptized. The only perfect man to walk this Earth was baptized. Why? Simply, he sets the perfect example to show us as mortal human beings how to return to our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
