Hi I'm Truman Florence

I'm from the land of the golden sun. I started an improv troupe. I perform Shakespeare. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family of five kids, right smack in the middle. I have two brothers and two sisters. Our mother and father raised all of us homeschooled. Because of my oldest sisters interest in theater, and the lack of appropriate theater companies in the area, my mother started her own theater company called "Take Note Troupe". Through this company I've been able to perform musicals, plays, Shakespeare, and even improv shows! I was even able to start my own improv performance troupe called "On The Spot". I love music. Listening, playing, singing, dancing to, all of the above! My mother raised all of us with great attention to music. I myself play the Piano, accordion, and Ukulele. My other siblings all play piano and some play instruments like the Violin, Mandolin or Guitar. But everyone sings. I will always be grateful for the love of music my mother instilled in us. I have also loved developing my photography, from personal projects to paid weddings. I am a senior at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah. I have been studying in the creative track of BYU's advertising program as an Art Director. I love the creative challenge consistently posed in advertising, and I hope to work for a company like 72 and Sunny, or Deutch in LA after I graduate. 3 years ago I accepted a call to serve a mission in Bolivia, but after 6 weeks I had to return home and sort out problems I was dealing with. In 6 weeks I will be blessed to return to my original mission in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Christ. There is no peace, no joy, no satisfaction that can come from any other source than the knowledge of the simple truth that Christ lives. He is in the details of our lives. From the beauty in the way light filters through the leaves, to the instinct a young child has to share his things with another. He has restored His church again on this earth, and He has placed President Thomas S. Monson at its helm. I love that the same eternal truths and principals that were applied when Christ walked on the earth can still be accessed and applied today, thanks to revelation from modern day prophets. This gospel makes me better than I could ever hope to be. I know that Christ's true church was restored on the earth through Joseph Smith, and that the Book of Mormon truly is the word of God. I know that my Savior died for you and I, but more importantly, He rose again, He conqured death, and performed the atonement so He could know us perfectly. He loves us with a love that is infinite and unconditional. I have felt that love in my life, as He has lifted me out of my sins and carried me through sorrow and joy. All I am, and ever hope to be is because of Him.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed to have lots of opportunites to serve. I find so much joy in the service of others. I love working with the cub scouts, their energy and enthusiasm rejuvenates me every time I help out! I also have so many opportunities to visit the elderly and share some music and fun with them. They are so kind and wonderful. I love to share the doctrines of Christ, everywhere I go. Whether I'm talking to the grocery store clerk, or the priest in a local congregation, I am always fascinated and uplifted. The last two years I have been able to be a part of the Nauvoo and British Pageants in Nauvoo. I love being able to share the incredible stories of the early saints and pioneers who sacrificed so much. Learning about their testimonies and experiences through both of these shows has given me so much faith and hope on my own journey for God.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The full-time missionaries are well versed in many topics relating to the gospel. They can answer questions you have and share scriptures and references to help you better understand. But more than anything else, they will invite you to come unto Christ, in whatever ways you can. Show more Show less
