Hi I'm Christie

I love beautiful sunsets, boating at the lake, and helping my four kids learn to play piano. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family of nine children. That's not very common anymore. I wish everyone could experience the fun and joy of having such a large family! Almost all of us are married with large families of our own now, so our gatherings are noisy, a bit chaotic, and full of laughs. My parents instilled in us a love for the Lord and His Gospel, and we have done our best to do the same with our own little families. I am a graduate of BYU. I chose Humanities as my bachelors degree because I love learning about peoples and cultures. I minored in French, learned to ballroom dance, and traveled to foreign countries with two different Study Abroad programs. The first was the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near-Eastern Studies. Studying the Bible while touring the Holy Land greatly enriched my life. My second Study Abroad allowed me to experience the beauty and cultures of France, Italy, Belgium, and Switzerland. Later I obtained a Masters Degree in Public Administration. When I was 21 years old, I spent 18 months as an LDS missionary, teaching people in Montreal, Quebec and Ottawa, Ontario about Jesus Christ. Eleven years ago I was blessed to marry and begin a family. I am grateful to have a husband who treats me like I'm a treasure. Now, four children later, I am a busy homemaker. My family loves boating at the lake together! My kids are adventurous out on the water. One of our traditional spots is beautiful Lake Powell in Southern Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

I started out a member of the Church because it is the religion of my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. However, now it is my own knowledge and experiences that keep me actively engaged and full-heartedly committed to it! I find great peace and fulfillment in the knowledge I have about Jesus Christ. He is my Savior and I love him. From my youth until now I have felt his presence and guidance in my life, and I know my joy comes from following his true Gospel. The scriptures teach that by the power of Holy Ghost we can know the truth of all things. I have faith in that promise. I have felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me that the Book of Mormon is true and that God called Joseph Smith to restore His church. I believe Heavenly Father wants His children to have joy in life and feel His love, and I've learned the more I follow the teachings of Jesus the more happy and fulfilled I am.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing whatever I can to stay close to my Savior Jesus Christ- praying daily, studying scriptures, and applying His teachings in my interactions with others. I choose uplifting music and media. I attend the temple frequently, where I feel peace and receive clarity in my life. My husband and I attend church with our children every Sunday, no matter where in the world we are! (We love traveling.) We also hold Family Home Evenings on Monday nights with our children where we teach our children gospel principles, have a fun activity, and eat a treat. In my local congregation, one of my responsibilities is to watch over and strengthen the women. I find out how they are doing and what their needs or challenges are. I help support them personally and organize others who can share their talents and resources. I help organize, plan and teach Sunday gospel lessons from the scriptures and words of the living prophets to strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ. I love serving in the Church. I also love inviting people of other faiths to come learn about our Church.
