Hi I'm Dennis McBroom

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am a veteran, a semi-professional clown, and I counsel people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a veteran and served in the Army, Army Reserves and Oklahoma National Guard. I am a father of three and have seven step-children. I have 19 grandchildren and one the way. I have a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a Masters of Science in Corrections. I have worked as a Social Worker, Probation and Parole Counselor, substitute teacher, adjunct instructor, oil field worker, funeral home worker, DUI Assessor, and DUI School Instructor. I have been on active duty in the U.S. Army as a Medical Corpsman in Asmara, Ethiopia. My hobbies are genealogy and I am a semi-professional clown. I am a member of the Lions Club. I am married to a lady from Wisconsin and we are leaving on August 1, 2014 to Prove, Utah to serve a mission in Canada Edmonton Mission. I have always been employed in jobs where I have been serving and helping others. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 39 years and have always loved being a member. I have served with youth, children, and adults. I play the piano and organ, accordion, and harmonica.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a best friend and we were raised in the Christian(Disciple of Christ Church) in Tulsa. He became a Latter Day Saint while in the military in the army. I met a BYU graduate in Ethiopia and discussed BYU with him. When I left active duty, I attended graduate school at Oklahoma State University. He and his family moved to Stillwater to attend school. He invited to an open house at the Institute of Religion and I met the missionaries there. I started studying the church and after 9 months, I knew what I was learning through the Holy Ghost that it was true. I have extremely happy about joining the church and have never regretted it. As I have lived the gospel and continue to be a follower of Jesus Christ and am continually happy and think about the gospel all the time.

How I live my faith

As a DUI Instructor, I participate in the legal system and I serve in the Lions Club. I have been a counselor in a small branch, I have been quorum leader and a counselor. I have been a Stake and Ward Missionary and have been a Branch Mission Leader. I also served in the children's programs as a pianist and teacher. I have also been a Gospel Principle Instructor along with my wife. My wife and I have been leaders over single adults and helped plan activities. I have a home teacher to keep in close contact with active member, not so active members, and part member families.
