Hi I'm Jake

I grew up playing sports my whole life and have received a scholarship to play football. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like the outdoors. I love to hunt and fish and go camping. I like hiking and cliff jumping into water. Boating and water sports are another hobby of mine. I'm serving my mission in Canada and afterwards, going to Kansas to play college football. My summers through high school were mostly spent hauling hay and sitting around bon fires.

Why I am a Mormon

For me, i was born into the church. My dad grew up not knowing anything about the LDS church until he met my mom. The LDS missionaries taught him about the church and he decided to get baptized at age 23. My whole life I've been a member of the church and i would go to church on Sunday mostly because my parents made me. and being a kid, i didn't understand why i had to go to church. There were so many things i could think of that i'd rather be doing. But recently, I've been preparing to go on a mission for the church and gaining a testimony of it. I now realize why it was so important to go to church on Sunday and learn about it.

How I live my faith

In my church groups, we spend time doing service projects for people in need. We also spend a lot of time doing fun things like going on hikes and camp outs. At least once a month me and another person from my church do what we call home teaching. This is something we do with people in our ward to kind of check up on them and make sure that they are doing good and ask them if there is anything we can help them with. Then we share a spiritual message with them and end with a closing prayer.
