Hi I'm Ben Jackson

I was born in Michigan, moved to Iowa, California, and I live in Texas. I love to sing and play guitar and ukulele. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing! My parents forced me into choir my freshman year, but I'm so glad they did because that's when I discovered my true talent! I also play guitar and ukulele, though I'm still kinda at amateur level. I actually wrote a song with my friend, but it's not that great. After my church mission in Guatemala I'm going to BYU Provo and I hope to be a part of the a Capella music group Vocal Point. That has been a dream of mine since I watched them perform when I was maybe 7. I enjoy playing almost any kind of sport for recreation, but I've never been on an official sports team. I love wake-boarding and water sports, though I don't get a chance to go boating very often. My all-time favorite TV show is Avatar: The Last Airbender. In a nutshell, I'm a sporty-musician-nerd. It's a weird combination, but hey, it's who I am. I love my friends, my family, and Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

As is the case with many Mormons I was born into a Latter-Day Saint home, and ultimately was baptized when I was 8. The reason why I continue to follow the example of Jesus Christ is because I love Him. He loves each of us with such a perfect love that He laid down His life for us. Because of Him, we will all be resurrected and live forever. All He asks in return is to follow Him, and we are promised all that He has. We are given the opportunity to live with our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ, and our families, and our loved ones in eternal peace and glory forever and ever; all that is required of us is to do His will. I consider that a very small price to pay for eternal happiness. That is why I strive every day to be more like Him, to perhaps be a little more deserving of His matchless love.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as I go to church each Sunday, as I spend time with my friends, as I love my family, and as I serve my community. I never want to miss a day at church. Learning the gospel and speaking of Jesus Christ with friends and family each week is an experience that I treasure. Me and my group of friends in the church have decided to create rap videos based on our values and standards that we uphold and put them on YouTube for anyone to see. We always try to find new fun ways to help others understand what we're all about. Everyone that's around me on a regular basis knows that I am a Mormon. I'm not afraid to share what I know to be true. I'm always careful to respect the beliefs of those I talk with, and in return they have greater respect for my beliefs. Funny how that works, huh. I love my family. We all have ups and downs, rocky relationships with siblings, and so on, but in our family we always strive to work it out. We always try to have dinner together as the entire family every night, and we love watching movies and playing games together. We also make sure to read our scriptures, the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible, on a regular basis. I also love serving others. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, I have participated in many projects to help those in my community who are in need. Although service can be difficult and even physically exhausting, the feeling I get when I know that I helped someone else is worth all the exertion.
