Hi I'm John Bierman

I grew up in a military family. I work as an independent software consultant. I'm a husband and father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really enjoy spending time with my family. I love sports...anything with a ball that bounces. I am a business owner and do software consulting and I really like what I do. I lived in Colombia for nearly two years as a missionary and loved it! I didn't finish college, but continue my education on a regular basis by trying to stay current on new trends in technology. I am married to a wonderfully talented woman that is the love of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have received a witness from the Holy Ghost that it is God's restored church on the earth today. I didn't always know this though. There was a period of time in my youth when I left the church and got deeply involved in the "things of the world", violating pretty much every commandment that we've been given. It was a dark time in my life, and when I hit rock bottom I knew that something had to change. I felt completely and utterly alone. At that dark moment, I remembered the things that my parents had taught me when I was young, and I started for the first time in my life to seriously search and question things of an eternal nature. The process was long and hard, but over time I came to know for myself that God really does know me by name, and that He loves me. I came to know that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior. This knowledge has changed my life! It has changed the way I see myself, as well as the way I see others. I see so many people in life struggling with so many challenges, and my heart goes out to them. Life can be hard at times. I know that in those darkest moments, if we will turn everything over to Him Who knows best, He will work His miracles to make all things work out for our good. I know God lives, and that He loves us. And I know that this is God's restored church on the earth.

How I live my faith

I love to serve in the community and the church. I'm currently serving as the Bishop of our congregation. It's both a humbling and challenging service opportunity. We don't receive any financial compensation for our service in the church (i.e. we don't have a paid clergy), but it is so rewarding to work with the members of our congregation and the community. As a popular television add has said, it is "priceless". I meet regularly with the youth of our church as well -- they are amazing! I have a love affair with the scriptures :) I really love to search and ponder the scriptures because I see such application to my life, and that of my family. I also love to take my kids on service projects to help people in our community... We need to do it more! I have found that I'm the happiest when I'm serving others.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

John Bierman
Not at all! We love to help anyone in need. Service is one of the key ingredients to a happy life. The Savior served everyone, regardless of their social or religious status. We should do likewise. Show more Show less
