Hi I'm Michael

I'm from Utah. I'm a student, a legal assistant, and love to make music. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My father is a composer, so I have been raised around music my entire life. I used to fall asleep to the sounds of him working in his home office through the wall of my bedroom. I sing and play piano with my family band, though I enjoy to play and sing by my self as well. I am a legal assistant working on personal injury, immigration and criminal cases. I recently worked on a high profile murder trial for the defense attorney. It was an interesting experience working to defend a man accused of murder. It helped me learn the value of a life, and just how grateful I am for the knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Thought I work in law, I am actually studying to get a Bachelors in Accounting with aspirations to get an Masters in Business Administration. I love making order out of chaos. Accounting lets me do this and get paid, so it is a win-win. Most importantly I love my family. The knowledge that families are eternal is something that I can't imagine having to live without.

Why I am a Mormon

Ha! What an interesting question. I have been a member of the LDS church my entire life, but I was never forced to live these principles. My parents taught me the Gospel from my infancy, but always encouraged me to think for myself. This has been invaluable for me as I have come to cross-roads in my life in which I needed to decide for myself what I wanted. I am a Mormon because no other way of life has been able or promised to be able to provide me with the deep and unwavering joy and peace that these truths have given me. I am a Mormon because I have studied out in my mind and heart the teachings of the ancient and modern prophets, and I know this is the church that Jesus Christ formed when he was upon the earth, restored to us at this time in the history of the world, so that we can be prepared for the second coming of the Lord. I am a Mormon because I love my family too much to believe that there isn't a way to be with them forever. That is a concept that breaks my heart to think about. I know that my family is eternal, as long as I strive to obey the commandments and live as I should. What amazing comfort that brings my soul. So I guess, my question is, why wouldn't I be a Mormon?

How I live my faith

I have been in volunteer leadership positions in the congregations that I have lived in my entire life. I have learned more from these experiences than I ever have from my regular church attendance and I am grateful for these difficult but rewarding times of my life. From October 2009 through October 2011 I served as an LDS missionary in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and in some of the surrounding area including Playas, Manta, and Quevedo. I loved my time teaching the people of Ecuador about the Gospel of my Savior. I will never forget the wonderful people I met there and the opportunity I had to bring the light of the gospel into their lives. My job gives me the opportunity to stand up for what is right. Though lawyers are often given a bad name, the men and women I work for show me just how valuable a strong moral compass can be. I am lucky to work in an office where many, if not all of my co-workers and superiors share my religious beliefs. Together we work to help people obtain justice. The support that we all give one another to do what the Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches is right, despite how unpopular that action may be, is a rare and beautiful thing.
