Hi I'm Briton

I play the piano, golf, participate in amateur film making and love to learn (especially about my family history). I am a Mormon.

About Me

I recently graduated high school and will be serving a two year LDS mission to Italy before returning to go to a local university. I am interested in going into the medical field to become a pulmonologist. I enjoy spending most of my time with my parents and my two younger brothers. I am a huge college football fan. I have been playing the piano since I was eight years old and have begun playing the organ. I played percussion instruments for my high school band. I am also an Eagle Scout. I enjoy golfing and played on my high school team. I participated in the International Baccalaureate Program at my high school and take my education very seriously. I am interested in film making. I also like to read often and spend time with my friends. I have recently become more and more interested in my own family history. I find it fascinating to learn about those who have gone before and to learn how I ended up where I am today. Through this, I have learned to love many family members I have never met before.

Why I am a Mormon

Although, I was born in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I still had to find out for myself if this was the true church. I have read the Book of Mormon multiple times and have found for myself that this Church is Christ's Church upon the earth. The Book of Mormon has brought me peace during difficult times and has been a steady source of inspiration and direction in a world of changing values and opinions. The Book of Mormon and the Bible go hand in hand and both of them together help me come closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ. The Church is also very service oriented. I try the best I can to be an example of a follower of Jesus Christ and service is one way I've felt his love not only for myself, but for the rest of our Heavenly Father's children here upon the Earth. My ultimate goal is to return to my Heavenly Father and I know through the covenants and ordinances of this Church, which are the same covenants and ordinances of Christ's original church, that I can return to my Father in Heaven if I remain faithful and worthy. One thing I really love about the church is that it emphasizes greatly how much we need our Lord and Savior but also how much He loves us. In the end, the teachings of the Church simply make sense and are a consistent source of peace and revelation.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith the best I can. I have served in a few leadership positions in the Church over young men ranging from 12-18. I would help plan activities for youth nights, which were held every Wednesday. We have fun activities that often include service, spiritual learning, or developing skills to help us later in life. I would also help to teach lessons on Sundays as well. I also served as the ward organist for roughly two years. I would play the organ during our Sacrament Meetings. I live my faith by following the teachings of Christ and by striving to become more like Him. I am also living my faith by serving a mission. I will be in Milan, Italy for two years serving and teaching others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

What is the First Vision?

Briton
The First Vision was the beginning of the Restoration of Christ's original church back upon the Earth. A young boy, named Joseph Smith, had been very confused by the teachings of the various churches during the early 1800's. All the religions seemed to contradict each other. Joseph wanted to know which of all the churches were correct. After reading In James 1:5 he decided to ask God for himself. He chose a spot in a grove of trees away from his house. He knelt down in prayer and asked God which church was true. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph and told him that none of the churches on the earth at that time were true, but that the true Church of Christ would be restored through Joseph Smith in a few short years.
