Hi I'm Shaelyn Rogers

I love my family. I love my friends. I love my life. Most importantly, I love being a member of the LDS church. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just finished up my freshman year of college. In a short time I will be a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Houston Texas speaking Spanish. I am thrilled for the opportunity to devote my heart to service to the Lord. I know that I will be blessed for the sacrifices I make on my mission, and I will witness miracles as God's children in Texas come to the knowledge of the true gospel of Christ. Other than that, I am a lover of all things chocolate, firm supporter of naps, and a people person. I enjoy spending time outside in the sun, exploring the world that my Heavenly Father has made for me. I am the oldest of 5 and I love my family more than anything. I am inexpressibly grateful for the knowledge I have through this gospel that I can be with them after this life. I love adventures, and just for fun, here are 5 things on my bucket list: See the Northern Lights in Alaska, go Skydiving, visit all 50 states, ride in a hot air balloon, and go to Australia. I love this church so much. It really has shaped every aspect of my life. I am a Mormon. I know it. I live it. And I LOVE IT.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and for that I am so grateful. Even though I was born into the church, I still had to find out for myself if it was true. Through studying the Book of Mormon, praying to Heavenly Father, going to church and activities, and striving to do what is right, I have grown in light and knowledge of the truthfulness of Christ's restored church. I have asked and felt the sweet reassurance of the Spirit that this is the true church on the earth today. I am a Mormon because this is the truth. I know that God loves me and that Jesus Christ is MY personal Savior. I know that the Bible is the word of God, as well as the Book of Mormon. I know that God speaks to us in our day just like He did in the scriptures through living prophets. Because God loves us, He provides a way for us to hear His voice and know that He is. Joseph Smith was a prophet, and through him, all of the blessings of this church came to be. I have such a respect for those who learn and grow in light and knowledge as I have-- The Spirit helps us recognize truth. All things which are good come from God, and this church is good. It motivates me every day to try and become better and turn to the Lord. The love and faith that I have in Jesus Christ motivate me to be who God wants me to be. I know that I have a purpose here on earth, and every day I will try to be more like my Savior so that I may one day return to live with God again. I am a Mormon because I have asked and God gave me an answer. And He will give answers to anyone that asks with a sincere and honest heart, desiring to know truth. This church is the truth. If you ask, He will answer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by my actions. In the mornings, I talk to my Father in Heaven through prayer. He knows me so individually, and communicating with Him helps me develop a relationship with Him that affects every other aspect of my life. I read my scriptures every day so that I might learn His words and know the truths He wants to share with me. I serve others because I know that every person on earth is a Child of God-- Showing them the love I feel helps everyone feel better. I never want to be the reason someone is sad. I want to share with them the LIGHT I feel, which comes radiating from Christ. Right now I am preparing to serve a mission- which means that for 18 months, I am leaving my home, my family, friends, schoolwork, and everything so that I might serve the Lord. On my mission, I will devote my heart, might, mind, and strength to building God's kingdom on earth-- which means that I will be teaching His children. I am spending every day telling people that they have a Savior in Jesus Christ, who came to earth and lived a perfect life, then suffered, died and was resurrected so that they might live with God again. Christ came so that our pains and our sins can be completely wiped away. He died so we may LIVE. I live my faith by sharing what I know with others so that they might feel the hope and joy that I do every single day of my life. There is nothing that brings me more peace and comfort than knowing that I am a child of God, who is loved SO MUCH. I live my faith so others can know Christ through me.
