Hi I'm Megan

I'm from Utah. I love to be outside. Fan of hashtags. Soon to be a missionary in Chile to share the Gospel. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hi, I'm Megan, and I love to do anything outside. Utah is a prime spot for hiking -- I love seeing the beautiful world that was created for us in my own backyard. I am attending Brigham Young University and love to learn -- I am studying biochemistry, hoping to one day do medical research. Though I am in a scientific field, I love History, English, and am learning to love math. Reading has always been a favorite activity of mine. I love to do any sport, but I am an avid tennis fan -- playing as much as possible, obsessively watching the professionals, and hoping Federer has a major comeback soon. I love the warm weather, traveling, Harry Potter, DisneyWorld, and every shade of green, especially tennis ball green. I love to spend time with friends staying up way too late and being with my family. After my near two decades of life, I have realized that I have been extremely blessed -- going through life with the best family and friends possible and always having knowledge of the Gospel. I am leaving soon to serve a mission in Concepcion, Chile, and I am going because I know how blessed I am and I want these blessings to be available to everyone. I want everyone to be as happy as I am, and I know that the Gospel is what accounts for my happiness -- Heavenly Father truly loves each of us!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to have been raised in the Gospel. As a young teenager I sometimes wondered why I believed -- I wanted to know for myself and not rely on the testimonies of all the wonderful influences in my life. But as I prayed and studied the scriptures, the answer didn't come immediately. It was frustrating at first as I had to be patient to gain my own testimony of the Gospel. But as I kept praying and studying, I came to know the truth for myself. I came to love the Gospel and recognize the blessings it brings to my life. It wasn't one grand experience where I came to immediately know the Gospel is true, it was an accumulation of small spiritual experiences over time as I did what I had been asked to do. It was hard at first to have faith and continue doing these small things daily, but faith involves action. As we follow the commandments, we will come to know of their truth and protection they bring. I love the values the Gospel teaches and the fact that I can grow in the Gospel at my own pace. I know Christ loves us so much that he sacrificed Himself for us so that we can become perfect and live with Him again. Heavenly Father gave us families, prophets, church, and the Book of Mormon to help us come back to Him. I know that the Gospel makes me happier than anything else, and that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Service is the best way to live my faith! I love to serve because I want to be like Christ and He is the best example of service that has ever lived. I also love to serve because it helps me to recognize all that I have been blessed with. When I recognize these blessings, it just makes me want to give more service and try harder in my life to not waste what I have been given. I have had several service opportunities with refugees, special needs individuals, and the elderly. These are some of the times that I have enjoyed the most as I had the chance to interact with people I would usually not meet. Not only do I try and serve in the ways we usually think of service, but on a simpler level. I think some of the most important service I can give is being a good family member and friend. Simply listening to others and taking the time to be there for a loved one can mean the most to someone. It seems so simple, but taking time to make strong relationships with others individually is exactly what Christ did -- He ministered to people "one by one" and He still will minister to each of us individually today! Serving others in this simple way shows me the depth of Christ's love for each of us; as I try and aid others by lending a listening ear and being kind, I know I want the best for my loved ones and for them to be happy. If I feel this way, I can only imagine the powerful and infinite love of our Heavenly Parents and our Savior. He wants us to come to Him so He can help us -- He can help us so much more than I can help my loved ones, and I want to share that with others. That is why I am leaving my loved ones to serve a mission; I want everyone to feel God's love for them!
