Hi I'm Kylee Jean Barker

I was born and raised in Twin Falls Idaho and now going to school at BYU-Idaho. I love softball. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I love to cook and bake. Right now I am in college and don't know what I am going to go into yet. I love to play softball or any sports. Before I moved up to school I volunteered with Promise of Hope visiting the elderly and I loved every minute of it. I like to do art but I don't think that I am that good but I love to view art. I really enjoy the outdoors. I have donated my hair to Locks of Love and I am growing it out again to donate. I am the third of four kids in my family and my older brother and sister have fallen away the church and I try my best to be the example to them and those around me. I think that we can be a big difference in this world when we stand up for what is right.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I Mormon? Well I was born and raised in the church but that's not why I choose to be Mormon. I would have to say I am Mormon because I know that I am a Child of God and that Heavenly Father loves us. As you learn the teachings of the Gospel it all just make sense and we recognize it because knew it before we came to earth. I know The Book of Mormon is true and the it is another testament of Christ's life. I know that Joseph Smith was guided by God and so is the prophet we have on earth today Thomas S. Monson. I know that Jesus Christ came to this earth to atone for our sins so that we don't have to. I know that the atonement is true and that with it we can repent of our sins so we can be clean. I know that I can be with my family forever and that this life is not the end. That we can live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ again. I know that as we follow the prophet we will be blessed. I know that through prayer we can talk to our Heavenly Father and that he want to hear from us. I know that God gives us trials to straighten us. I know that all things will come in Gods time. I know that this Church is true and I love it with all my heart and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently do not have a calling but I try to go to the temple all that I can. I also write tons of letters to all my friends who are on a mission. This is something that I encourage everyone to do even if you don't know them because missionaries love letters it brightens their day. I just stated doing visiting teaching so I am still learning but I have found that when I just sit down and talk about the gospel with someone because you can different views and it helps me understand things that I didn't before.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Kylee Jean Barker
On Sundays we go to worship the Lord so we wear our best clothes. For me since I am a girl I wear a dress. Sure I could wear dress pants but if you think about it if you go to a nice dance and you want to wear your best do yo wear pants? No we wear a fancy dress. Now I am not saying we need to wear fancy dresses to church but we should wear a dress to show we respect the Lord. We celebrate Christmas Christmas and Easter but we don't really have the same meaning behind them like everyone else does. Christmas is when we celebrate Jesus birth and not getting gift from Santa. For Easter we love the Easter Bunny and all but we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. Show more Show less
