Hi I'm Steve

I was born in and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida.

About Me

I grew up spending a lot of time outdoors. Surfing, diving, hiking, camping and fishing. Over the years I have lived in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Missouri and California. I am a chiropractic physician by occupation and I work, along with other health care providers, in a community health center. Father of four and grandfather of four. I like keeping bees and growing figs. I was taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ when I was a child but never really knew for myself that it was true until much later in life.

Why I am a Mormon

While in my twenties, I searched out and studied many different philosophies in an effort to find out for myself if there really was a God. All of the disciplines that I investigated seemed to me to contain truth, however, there was always an unanswered question or something seemed missing. After many years of this "quest" I remembered what I had been taught when I was a little boy. I read in the Book of Mormon, Moroni chapter 10 verse 4 (I am paraphrasing) that if I wanted to know if the gospel I had been taught was true I could ask God with sincerity, real intent and faith, and that if I did that He would answer my prayer. That is exactly what I did. I spent a day fasting and thinking about what I had been taught and then I prayed and asked God if this was what I had spent all those years looking for. He did answer my prayer. In a way that I can not describe but in a way that I also can not deny, God, my Father in Heaven, made me to know that he lives. That Jesus Christ is His Son and my Redeemer. Since that time I have enjoyed a deep and abiding peace knowing where I came from, The purpose of my life on Earth and what awaits me when this life is over. Life is still up and down but I know that I am not alone. I am a member of the Church because of the purpose and happiness it brings to my life. I am learning to know and to love The Lord in a way I never could before. I am a member of the church because He loves me.

How I live my faith

Over the years my membership in the Church has brought several responsibilities. Sunday school teacher, clerk, mission leader, Bishop's councilor and others. I am currently serving as a councilor in the branch presidency of a small group of about 100 members. (I know that's alot of inside baseball jargon) All of these opportunities to serve in the Church have greatly enriched my life. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought meaning and peace to my life that I strive to share with others.
