Hi I'm Heidi

I grew up in Utah. I teach English to international students. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy reading, cooking, quilting and learning new things. I like to eat foods from different countries and try new foods. I enjoy watching Bollywood movies and Korean dramas. I love to hike and camp and spend time outdoors enjoying nature. I like to play video games with my brother and sister, and I love being an aunt and spending time with my nieces and nephew. I love my job! I teach English to international students, so I have met people from all over the world. I love learning about the many countries and cultures of the world and enjoy the opportunity of learning to see the world in different ways. I have learned that there is good in every person and in every place.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me peace and happiness in my life. I was once asked why I smile all the time. This question caused me to think about myself and why I am generally happy. The answer that came to me is that I am happy because I am a Mormon. The gospel allows me to be happy because it gives me peace and hope. Even during difficult times, I know that God loves me and that He will help me. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith is a prophet because I asked and God, in his infinite wisdom and mercy, answered my prayer. Every time I read the Book of Mormon I gain new understanding and insight that help me to be a better person and have a better relationship with God and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in simple, everyday ways - reading my scriptures, spending time with my family and friends, attending weekly church services and looking for opportunities to serve others. I also help to plan weekly activities for a group from my ward (local congregation)- we do service projects and other activities such as going up the canyon or learning to golf. I participate in family history and sometimes teach lessons at church. In my community, I volunteer as an English tutor one night a week to help people learn English.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

By learning about Him and then following His teachings. Studying the scriptures, reading the words of modern day prophets and praying help us to learn about Him. Then, when we apply what we have learned into our lives, we see the results as we experience greater hope, peace and joy. These experiences then strengthen and increase our faith. Show more Show less
