Hi I'm Vicki McBroom

I grew up in Wisconsin, attended BYU and received a music degree. I love the gospel, my family and music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom, step-mom and grandmother of 20. I grew up on a farm in Wisconsin and learned the value of hard work. I attended BYU and received a music education degree. For many years now I have helped others develop their talents with piano and voice and have helped them enjoy music too. I have enjoyed every calling I've been given in the church and have learned much and grown from each. My favorite times are spent in giving service, sharing love and trying to get the most out of each day. I love cooking, gardening and spending time with family. We are embarking now on a new challenge as we will be serving a year-long mission as a senior couple. We are looking forward to new adventures.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family where the gospel of Jesus Christ was taught and lived. My parents were constantly put in positions where they were leaders and set an awesome example for me. They loved everyone, looked for the good in everyone, and served faithfully in any job they were asked to do. Although we lived in an area where the church was not as widespread and our family was the only members of the church in our school district, the standards had been taught to us in our home and we tried our best to live them. However, when I went 2000 miles away to college, I had to decide then if I would continue to live the way I had been taught. No one at home would know if I was living those standards, if I was going to church and if I was serving as we had been taught to serve. I found out I had developed my own testimony. The gospel has taught me that I am a daughter of God, that He loves me; that He is always there for me. My Savior loves me enough to die for me and atone for my mistakes. I want to try my hardest to live the way He has shown, to help others, to be an example to my children, and help us all be a forever family. I know the things I have been taught are true; that the gospel provides all the answers and guides that will help us return to live with my Heavenly Father and His Son.

How I live my faith

I am a music teacher and am accredited with the national, state and city organizations. This gives me many opportunities to help others develop the love for music and be able to share their talents with others in the church or in the community. As my children were involved in school and community sports, Boy Scouts, choirs and band, I have had lots of intermingling with many of the parents in our community as we have worked together to support our children. I am currently working with the youth to help them develop their talents and develop Christ-like characteristics that will prepare them for life. I love visiting teaching where we get to share a message in the homes that we visit, but even more important is the friendships we develop with those that we visit. I have worked with the children's organization (ages 1-1/2 to 11) as a leader and teacher as well as the women's organization as a leader and teacher. More recently my husband and I have worked with the singles over 30 in providing activities and faith-growing experiences.
