Hi I'm Andrew

I grew up in Smithfield, Utah in an LDS family, am college bound, and will soon serve a mission in Jakarta, Indonesia.

About Me

Even though I've been accepted into college on multiple scholarships, I'm still deciding what I want to study and go into, really. However, I've always been a bit of a math and science nerd, so I'd imagine that starting with engineering would be a good choice. I've always been a bit of a gamer, and I'd consider myself to be pretty athletic as well, as I've played baseball, lacrosse, track & field, and basketball/soccer when I was young. I've lived in Utah my whole life, which probably explains my love to travel and try new things, but I don't have to travel far to reach my favorite place in the world: Lake Powell. The water and red cliffs there are so beautiful to me and there's nothing that I'd rather do than to wakeboard and tube there with my friends and family. I love trying new foods, and my parents have described me as a "food snob", I like to get the high quality stuff (sushi is probably my favorite.) Finally, my music describes a little more about me; I like to go out and find new bands, and tend to listen to indie/alternative.

Why I am a Mormon

So you've got this Mormon boy from Utah and you're probably not very surprised, they're crawling all over the place there. And yes, I was raised in this faith by two great, faithful parents in a widely Mormon community, but that is not why I have made the choices that I have and remain so convinced that this is the true church. Having been inquisitive my whole life with the ability to make my own decisions, I have made sure to experiment and see if this church was right for me of my own volition. After all of these years of living in the faith and strengthening my testimony, I know that this is God's church. I have seen it as He answered my prayers in the darkest of times, heard it as I read His words in the Book of Mormon, and felt it as I partook of the sacrament, entered His holy temples, and learned about His plan for me. I know that His church was restored through Joseph Smith and that we have a prophet on the earth today. I know that he knows and watches over me personally and that the things that I've been taught about living as Christ had are true and will bring me great happiness. I hope to continue to learn and strengthen my testimony, and will continue to strive to follow His gospel.

How I live my faith

In the past, I've held multiple leadership positions for my age group in the Church, and have gained valuable spiritual and leadership experience from it. I've loved going to church activities and can't wait to move up to the Young Single Adult Ward when I can. However, right now the biggest thing in my life is my mission to Indonesia. I've prepared for months to go and soon the time will come for me to leave and serve the people there. I know that because of my decision, I will be on both the giving and receiving end of blessings. The people that I teach will be able to live with their families forever and find hope and peace in the Gospel, and Heavenly Father and the Spirit will help me and guide me on my way to find them, teach them, and serve them. Every day I want to try my hardest to not only come closer to him, but to make Him happy as well, because I know that doing so will bring me happiness in this life and the next. I am far from perfect, trust me, but there is one way that I know how to answer the question "How do you live your faith?": with all of my strength and the best that I can give, for His plan will help make up for the rest.
