Hi I'm Mark

I wear size 11 shoes. Nothing special. But I'm happy. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am lucky. I am married to a wonderful woman who loves me and I love her. I have five kids and I am so proud of each one of them. I like to go fishing with my kids and just be with them -even the teenagers. I work in software development and have been testing different software packages for about 20 years. I enjoy working on projects around the house, both inside and out. I have a good time growing vegetables in my garden and preserving the produce. I am a runner and I really enjoy running with a group of friends from my neighborhood. I like to read and think. I like to learn new things, and feel like I've had a successful day at work if I have learned something new. I have met many wonderful people from all across the world. God has blessed me so much! I believe in a God that is a loving Father; that he knows me personally and is concerned for my success. I believe that we are all God's children and there is a purpose for our lives.

Why I am a Mormon

Mormons belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are sometimes called Mormons because of our belief in the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is a record of an ancient people that lived on the American continents. The record was preserved by God and in the early part of the 19th century delivered by and angel of the Lord to Joseph Smith who translated it by the power of God. I have read the Book of Mormon many times. I am a Mormon because I feel peace, love, hope when I read the Book of Mormon. These feelings are what the apostle Paul calls 'the fruits of the Spirit' in his letter to the Galatians. The Book of Mormon helps me understand passages from the Holy Bible that I didn't understand before. Through reading the Book of Mormon I have come to know Jesus Christ. Through feelings given to me by the Holy Ghost I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. By reading and studying the Book of Mormon, I have come to believe that Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God. I believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that was organized by Jesus Christ when he lived upon the earth. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I read from the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon and I pray. I ask God to bless me and my family, my friends and my neighbors. I try to do the things that the scriptures teach: love one another; keep the commandments; trust in the Lord; believe; repent. I have some dear friends who are advanced in years that I like to visit with. Sometimes I recruit my teenage sons to help with projects around their houses and yards. That always gives us a good feeling. At church, I am able to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and share my feelings that it is true and explain why I feel that way.
