Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a future missionary in New York City, a psychology major, and a BYU folk dancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in South Korea, was adopted at 6 months old, and I've lived in Murray, UT ever since. I'm 18 years old, and just finished my third semester at BYU. I'm studying psychology and sociology, with interests specifically in forensic psychology. I have been called to serve as a missionary in the NY, NY north mission, spanish speaking. I will be leaving for the Provo MTC on February 18th, 2015. I absolutely love folk dance, baking, and sports. BYU Basketball will always have a special place in my heart. I'm a huge fan of laughing, and good music. I love my family and friends, and I am so grateful for their unconditional love and support. I'm so very excited to share the gospel with the people of NYC.

Why I am a Mormon

Thankfully, I was raised in the LDS church, and was always taught to live and uphold the standards of the church. I know that everything I have, I have because of God. I cannot accurately express in words how grateful I am for this gospel. I'm grateful for the Atonement, and for the opportunities I have to repent, and to become a better me. I know for myself the truthfulness of this church, and I know I have a purpose in this life. I am constantly working towards living with my Heavenly Father, and my Savior again someday. This gospel brings me pure and honest joy that I could not find anywhere else. It provides me with the light and direction I need, and provides me with hope when times get hard. I love and am grateful for the tender mercies I am given every single day. I'm thankful for the blessings, and opportunities I have to see the hand of God, and to know that He is mindful, and aware of my situations and circumstances. I know that His plan of happiness is truly a plan of HAPPINESS. God wants us to have joy. He does not want us to suffer. We were put on this earth to be tested, and it is through our trials and mistakes that we come to know Him, and come to know what true joy is. I'm a Mormon because I have the best supporters: Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ. They are cheering for me, and truly want nothing but the best for me. I know that by trusting in His individual plan for me, and by trusting the process, He will provide. I love my Savior, and I truly need Him every hour.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings every week, magnifying my church callings, and by trying to live a a Christ-like life. Most of all, I will be sacrificing 18-months and dedicating it purely to the work of the Lord. Coming to the decision to serve a mission was not an easy one at all, but I know, as President Gordon B. Hinckley said, "what appears today to be a sacrifice will prove instead to be the greatest investment you will ever make". I want to bring the joy and hope this gospel brings me, to those who haven't been blessed with it yet. I want the people of NYC to be able to feel the love that Christ has for every single one of them. I want them to know that there is always someone who understands their struggles and pain. There is always someone who can provide them with comfort, and provide them with love, and there is always a way back. I'm honored to be able to make the sacrifice to my Lord and Savior. Though the sacrifice seems daunting at times, I am willing to give, because I have been given so much. It's an incredible opportunity. I know it will be harder than I can probably imagine, but the blessings that will come as a result are probably also far greater than I can imagine. I love my Savior, and I love this Gospel. God is so good.
