Hi I'm Ashlee Elder-Martinez

I am a Gringa living in Mexico. I love music, creativity and the gospel. I am an advocate for healthy body image and true beauty.

About Me

I love music. I know there is power in music. I am married to a wonderful man and we live in Mexico. For the first time in my life, I am the minority. I am 1 out of 4 Americans living in a Mexican community. There are only 11 other Mormons in my city. I worked for 5 years at an eating disorder treatment center and have seen how Satan distorts our concept of beauty and body image. I am an advocate for healthy body image and learning to love and accept yourself and others at any size or shape. Our worth is not based on what we look like, where we live, or how much money we have. We all have worth and we all have a story worth telling.

Why I am a Mormon

It brings peace and answers that I can get no place else. I love the spirit and the revelation that comes through it. I know that God is not a God of chaos. He has a plan. And it is a very beautiful plan.

How I live my faith

We have no missionaries here in our little town. We are not quite a branch, but together we can share our faith even though we are few. Our worth is not determined by what others see us as or what our bodies look like. Our worth comes from the fact that we are all children of a loving Heavenly Father. We all of a voice and we all of a purpose. As I visit with my dear friends who struggle with body image issues, it is amazing to see what amazing women God has created. I wish that we could all see ourselves and others how Heavenly Father sees us.
