Hi I'm Lorna

I grew up in the Niagara peninsula of Ontario Canada. I am a Mormon of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -Day Saints.

About Me

I am a grandmother with 8 grandchildren and am a widow of 8 years. I like to crotchet, paint and horseback ride. Most of all I like to curl up with a good book. Once a week I line dance at the local community centre with other seniors of like mind.

Why I am a Mormon

Many years ago I knew I needed to make a decision in my life and having gone to other churches I understood they were not what I was looking for. One of my sisters was a Mormon of LDS faith and one summer my husband and children visited her in Utah. There I heard about the book of Mormon for the first time. This sister later sent me one with her testimony in the front of it. As I read and immersed myself in it and read the passage she underlined in Moroni 10:4-5 and did as it asked (prayed about it) I gained a knowledge of the truth of it. Much later I asked my younger daughter, 18 at the time, if she would also be interested if I called the Missionaries, she said yes! It was a time when we still had custodians and I called the local chapel and he said he would send the missionaries right over. What a joy it was to be baptised and receive the blessings of the Gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

On Sundays I teach the 4 and 5 year olds who are a great delight to me. Such cheerful people with bright and inquisitive minds are found in these young ones. Being associated with other members of the same faith helps me to be uplifted and edified so that I may take that same spirit of love and kindness and share with acquaintances and friends. Discussions of the teachings of Christ with friends of other faiths shows me that we are more alike than different. As I live my faith others ask questions and I appreciate the teachings that I have received that enables me to be able to answer with conviction.
