Hi I'm Garret

I grew up in the mountains of Northern Idaho. I love to play basketball. I enjoy helping and teaching others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to play sports or pretty much any game. I am really competitive and love to win! But I am not overly competitive to the point that it's annoying. I loving making people laugh. I am not afraid to make a fool out of myself either. I am a very picky eater, but my favorite food is PIZZA!! Stuffed crust pizza...from Pizza Hut...is to die for. Basketball is really my life. Recently I just finished playing a year of basketball at a community college.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and grew up a member of the Church. The gospel has really blessed my life. There have been times where I have messed up in my life, and I know that there is a drastic difference between living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and not living it. When we accept and use the atonement of Jesus Christ we can become clean. We can experience an amazing joy, and loving peace of mind. I am so thank for our Savior, and all that he has done for me, and for the world.

How I live my faith

I go to Church every Sunday, and give talks to the congregation when I can. Right now I am serving a mission for my church, Mexico for two years. So far it has been awesome.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Garret
We know that it is only through the atoning sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ that we can be saved. In this case I use the word saved to refer to returning to the presence of God. Only through the grace that Christ can offer us we can be save. So yes, we believed that we are saved by grace alone. We know that grace truly is the saving, redeeming, strengthening power that only Christ has. But we also believe works to be an essential part of the plan of God. God didnt take away our personal responsibility. The works we do arent us trying to work our way to heaven. Because that is impossible to do.The works are just a means to SHOW and PROVE our love, acceptation, and gratitude to Christ. Works are also a must have in order for the plan of salvation to be a success. As member of the Church of Jesus Christ we know that we are here to progress and be happy. Progress means to be changing constantly. And changing for the better. Changing our attitudes and behaviors, trying to get them more and more aligned with those of Christ. We progress as we work. And we also understand that in order to be truly happy in this life, to have joy, we must have a perfect desire in our hearts to obey. We must hate wickedness and love righteousness. We dont have to be perfect, but our heart needs to be in the right place. So without good works, there would be no true happiness. I know that I will only be saved by the grace of Christ, which is why I desire to follow and love Him through my works. Show more Show less
