Hi I'm Mark

I love family time, American history, and playing the cello. I'm a CPA, a fan of BYU sports and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm the father of six (5 daughters and 1 son) and the grandfather of eleven. My children are all married and scattered from Rhode Island, to St. Louis, to northern Utah. My fifth daughter passed away when she was 23 and serving as a missionary. My wife passed away from cancer 19 months later. I have remarried and between us we have 10 children and 15 grandchildren so we are busy with family and our jobs. I work as a divisional controller for a financial services company and my wife does billings for a large dental office. We are looking forward to retirement (hopefully), to spend more time with family and to serve missions for the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had so many prayers answered and thus know that there is a God and that He is my Heavenly Father. I have also come to know that Jesus Christ is the immortal Son of God, that Jesus came to earth to teach us and to show us how to live. He gave His life to atone for me and all mankind. Through His grace, I am saved. I have also come to know that Joseph Smith was His prophet and that there has been a restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in these latter-days and that the priesthood or authority to perform ordinances is again on the earth. I have come to know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and that it contains truth just as the Bible does. I know that where much is given, much is expected and I have been given so much. I joy in my Savior and in His word.

How I live my faith

I am trying to live as a true disciple of Jesus Christ. I recognize that because of I know that He is my Savior and Redeemer that I not only have an obligation to Him and to His Church, but to my family, my neighbors and my community. I am trying to be a good role model to my children and look for opportunities to teach them and their children about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the joy of living a life of service. I spend a great deal of time each week in giving volunteer service in the Church and look for opportunities to be of service to my neighbors and our little community. Yesterday, I donated blood. The older I get, the more opportunities I see to serve. I hope to spend most of my retirement in service to others.
