Hi I'm Vickie

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. I am creative, I love to garden and cook. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful man who is my best friend. We have been unable to have children and have only one lost during pregnancy. I have some health issues, but don't let them stop me from being all that I can become. Some things I enjoy are gardening, dogs, outdoors, and cooking. I also enjoy working outside the home. I have a history of part-time work from desktop publishing and photo enhancement to front office support staff. I enjoy helping people and organizing things. Currently I am a homemaker who takes temporary office assignments at a local R&D plant. My life is not what I had planned, it's better.

Why I am a Mormon

I was searching for more my whole life. I saw other kids with truly happy homes and wanted this too. I did not understand what they had that I did not. As I got older I was married and joined my husbands church as "my wifely duty". He did not require this of me, I just felt it was my duty. There I learned about Christ and I began to believe. Still feeling like I was missing something I expressed this to my husband. He recognized the same and together we continued to search. We had several invites to that we declined and then one day found ourselves touring Temple Square in Salt Lake City. It was night and there was a youth meeting in the tabernacle. They were singing the closing song, "I Need Thee Every Hour". We paused by the door and listened. Tears began streaming down my face as I realized that I was home. The Spirit touched my heart and told me that I had found what I had been searching for. My life has forever changed since I joined this church. I have a peace that fills my heart and soul, strength when times are difficult, and I know that I am a valued daughter of our Heavenly Father. Life can be hard, but focusing my life on following His gospel makes all things easier. It is especially wonderful that my dear husband is traveling on the same path with me. We walk hand in hand as we follow Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live in a small town and travel to a larger one for church. There are not a lot of members near my home, so I have taken it upon myself to put a good impression on my community of what a Latter-Day Saint is. When the opportunity arises, I share my faith and answer any questions folks may ask to the best of my abilities. I'm not perfect and I don't expect anyone to think I am; only to see that I am trying to live like Jesus. I have held many assignments at church but spent the most time working with the youth, girls ages 12-18. I love the girls and as I work with them they become like my children. Helping girls grow in Christ and navigate the difficult teen years is very rewarding. My husband leads our home, but I set the tone. I work hard to make our home a peaceful place that invites the spirit. A place where that he (or I) can come home and relax at the end of a hard day. A home filled with love and gentleness.
