Hi I'm Simeon

I grew up in Canada. I run a software company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love spending time with my wife and daughter. I enjoy building things, whether that means using a hammer to renovate my home or a keyboard to develop a website - if I'm creating something I'm having fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Catholic, but for the most part my religion was limited to Sunday mass. I found the Church through a blessing that the missionaries gave me because I wasn't feeling well. Although I really wasn't expecting much to come from the blessing, I told myself that it wouldn't hurt to try. When they laid their hands upon my head and pronounced a blessing of healing, I felt a warmth wash over me. I was shocked because I hadn't expected anything. That was what first piqued my interest with the Church. After the blessing the missionaries taught me about God the Eternal Father, who He is and what He is like. That day changed my life profoundly, and although I am still far from perfect, I have become a much nicer (and happier) person because the things that I have learnt. I know that I am a son of God and that He has a plan for me... and you too!

How I live my faith

Being able to help others as I serve has been a real blessing to me. That might take the form of visiting a someone who is sick and needs a blessing or by simply sharing a kind word and smile with a stranger. One of the things that I find the most rewarding is taking an opportunity to talk to the youth of the Church. I have always been amazed at how strong they are when they live by the gospel principles. They have taught me many things as I've interacted with them, especially through the early morning seminary program. Seeing highschool students wake up early each weekday morning to study the scriptures (and the impact that it has on their lives) has really inspired me to improve my own personal study habits.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Simeon
I think that God has put us here on earth to be able to learn and grow through our own personal experiences in order to prepare us to receive the greatest blessing that he has for us: Eternal Life. Mortal life here on earth gives us an opportunity to grow, mature, and become worthy to receive this great blessing as we make correct choices and learn from our mistakes. One of the greatest opportunities that we have on earth is to be a part of a family. Through family life we begin to understand what it means to truly love, to sacrifice, and to endure. The family unit draws us closer to our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
