Hi I'm Jack

I'm from The United Kingdom. I'm a student. I'm a Mormon

About Me

After a long 18 years I am finally fulfilling a life long goal to Serve as a missionary. As a missionary I am serving in the South Africa Johannesburg Mission, the same mission that my elder brother was called to 4 years ago. I am very excited and very happy to be serving as a missionary (i'm writing this all before hand) I cannot wait to go and teach the gospel. I am one of four sibilings, 2 boys and 1 girl, who i love very much. I spent my entire life living in England and now have been thrust into a new life, which i am very eager to try. I also love the gospel, having been a member since I was born. I love my little home branch, which is very small, averaging about 30 members a week. I have served in several callings and enjoy helping.Outside of being a missionary I enjoy climbing as a hobby and playing games, lots of games. I also finished High School with very good grades, and I aspire to go on to University to study....... Maths. The dream job for me is to be a Pilot, a dream that i have had for like the past 10 years and somehow I never grew out of it, so why not. I consider myself a funny person, albiet slightly annoying, and slightly crazy. A view shared by my friends and one that I embrace.I am also a massive massive Star Wars fan

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and have been brought up LDS all my life. I have always attended church and activities. However I did make my own choice about my membership into the church, and I chose to stay because I knew it was true. However this was not a sudden knowledge. Rather, over time I eventually came to form my own testimony of the church; knowledge and belief that the things I was taught were true. This came to me slowly and over time. But I know now for a surety that the things I believe are true. My testimony is strong and firm in the church. I believe strongly that God is real and that he cares for everybody. I believe in the power of the Holy Ghost; which is the comfort and assurance promised in the Holy Scriptures. I believe in the Book of Mormon, that it is the word of the prophets of old and was translated by a prophet of God. I believe strongly that if anyone would read the Book of Mormon, as I did, they will receive the same witness

How I live my faith

The biggest way i am living my faith now is by serving a mission, and while this is has only happened recently, I made the choice to serve a mission when i was 8 years old, and have been preparing to serve ever since. From the age of 12, having grown up in a small branch with only about 30 memebers, I served in at least one calling from the age of 12, first as a decons quorm president, then the teachers qurom president, then the assistant to the priest qurom. I have always loved to serve in church, to help out in doing everything needed and always being worthy to pass the sacrament every week. I have strong testimony, i haven't always been very confident in it but the gospel has always been in my life and consequently i am always very open to anyone who asks about my faith and beliefs. I stand up for them and although it has been the subject of ridicule in the past, I stood by it and never denied it, as a result i have gained respect from those people who first laughed and me and this has lead to me being able to talk to them about it. And i am always willing to talk about my faith to anyone who asks, wheter it be at school, work or at home, or with friends.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a very personal witness given to a person by the holy ghost. It come after searching and prayer, and is the foundation of all beliefs in the Church. A strong testimony is the key to strength in the church. A testimony can cover several areas of belief but is based mostly Upon Heavenly Father and his love for us. Jesus Christ and his atonement. The Holy Ghost and his role as the comforter. That this Church is the true church on the Earth, restored by Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

The reason i am serving a full time mission is down to 2 reasons, first it is a commandment that all worthy young men serve a mission, and so commanded by God. But secondly and most importantly, because i have personally wittnessed in my own life and the lives of others, the joy and pure happiness that the gospel brings, such happiness that cannot be found anywhere else. The blessings of the spirit and the prospect of eternal and everlasting life with my family is the greatest thing i could ever hope for; and so i want everyone else to share in these wonderful blessings. I wish that everyone could feel of this same happiness, so my purpose as a missionary is to share this message to others and offer them this same happiness, this is why I proselyte Show more Show less
