Hi I'm Rylan Nilsson

I am a Missionary, I am an optimist, I am always looking for ways to help people and make them happy, and I am a Mormon...

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in Winnipeg, Canada.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church but, I will admit, I kind of fell into the teenage phase of "I'm only doing this because my parents are telling me to." I fell away from the church mentally instead of physically. I was still going to church and attending my meetings but my mind was not always the most spiritually on-track. After a while, some things happened in my life, including depression, that might cause someone to think, "If there's a God, where is He?" Instead, because I had that proper upbringing, I asked myself. "If there's a God, why am I not going to him for help?" When I was able to understand that God still loved me and had a plan for me, I pulled myself out of the quicksand that the devil was trying to force me down into and have tried to live better ever since. Now, I am not perfect, I'm far from it, and I don't want to give the impression that I am perfect. I am simply stating that regardless of what a person goes through in their lives, God is always there to welcome you with open arms... "The principles of living greatly include the capacity to face trouble with courage, disappointment with cheerfulness, and trial with humility." - Thomas S. Monson

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday by making the day a little better than the day before. When I was in Scouts, I had one specific leader who was an influence for good in my life. One of his "catchphrases", when we went on Scout camps, was to say; "Leave the campsite better than you found it." After leaving Scouts that phrase has always stuck with me and I have applied it to my life. I am only here on this Earth for, at the most, 100 years. The best thing I can do with that alloted time is to make the world better than it was when I came into it. That being said, I do what I can everyday to help people and to make people feel happy... "But behold, that which is of God inviteth and enticeth to do good continually; wherefore, every thing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God." - Moroni 7:13
