Hi I'm Rowan

I grew up in rural Montana. I've done a lot of traveling: South America, Turkey, and Greece. I'm a total nerd and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, I am first and foremost a nerd, through and through. Be it Star Wars, X-Men, Avengers I love it all. Accordingly I love to read and play video games (I play them way too much, its a weakness I'm working on). My Dad likes to raise cows, and so due to him needing my help I would say I have dabbled in ranching, i.e. branding, herding, feeding. I have had great opportunities to travel quite a bit in my short live. I have been to New York, Washington D.C., Chile, Argentina, Peru, Turkey, and Greece. All of those trips gave me new insights into the world, I know that all of us are very similar in a lot of ways: we want family and friends, we don't want to hurt others, we all want to have fun, etc. I realize that I am really similar to millions of other young men out there trying to figure out life just like everyone else.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that we were all created by God in his image, and therefore we have a measure of divinity within us. With this special gift we have the potential for either great good or evil. God loves us so much that he is letting us chose for ourselves which direction we will go. Each of us exercises our free will everyday, making choices that lead us down one path or the other. I chose to follow God. To strive to become the strong, meek, just, and righteous individual that I know I can be. I came to this decision through this church. It asks a lot more than other churches and sets the bar very high, but I want that bar as high as it can be, so I can become the best version of me. I believe that through church we can all better reach that bar that Christ has set for us.

How I live my faith

Our church is very service oriented, sometimes it almost feels like too much. So I remember doing plenty of service for others: moving, chopping wood, highway cleanup, etc. There were also lots of activities: fishing trips, barbeques, movie night. I have lots of fond memories. I am in no way perfect. I don't pray as much as I should, or read the Bible as much as I should. However I am trying. The trick is not to never mess up, but to always hop back up on the horse.
