Hi I'm Ellen

I am a child of my God, a Daughter of a King, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student and am studying Recreational Management with an emphasis on Therapeutic Recreation, ultimately to become a Therapeutic Horseback Riding Instructor mainly for Deaf/Hard of hearing people because I know and LOVE sign language. If you couldn't tell already some of my interests are: horses, ASL, reading, drawing, singing, and playing sports! I love people and animals and hope to spend most of days with them- though I would like to live in a place with wide open spaces for a little break from people:)

Why I am a Mormon

I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and I love Him. He has given me EVERYTHING and more and the least I can do is give Him the one thing that doesn't belong to Him: my free agency. I chose a long time ago to give my life to Him and obey His commandments to show Him that I love Him. Why am I specifically a Mormon? Well I have a couple reasons why I chose this Church over all the others. First, I have read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and prayed to know that is true for myself. And it is. I know it with every fiber of my being and I cannot deny it. Second, we have the priesthood, or authority to act in Christ's name. This priesthood was lost with the apostles and prophet when they were killed after Christ's resurrection and the Great Apostasy but was restored to the prophet Joseph Smith. Third, through the priesthood we have the opportunity to be sealed (or bound not only on Earth but in Heaven also) to our families for all of time and eternity. We come to this earth and make all of these connections with people; make lasting relationships-and for what? To just die and stop existing? So those relationships don't matter? No. I know that we can be sealed to our families forever and we will see all of them again one day. Fourth, our religion emphasizes the healing power of the atonement of Jesus Christ. Not only did He give His life for us on the cross, but He suffered for each and every persons' sins to the point that His body bled from every poor because of the mental and emotional pain. We have the opportunity to repent and be clean because of His atoning sacrifice. Because Adam and Eve fell and were therefore subject to a life of sin- Christ came to make the ultimate sacrifice; body-the crucifixion and resurrection- and spirit-the atonement. The atonement of Christ is personal, He suffered each of your sins so He know exactly how you feel and what you,re going through. I'm a Mormon because I know it's true without a single doubt and so I will live it forever.

How I live my faith

I was a member of student leadership all four years of high school. I was sophomore co-class president and school board representative for two years. I was also our schools PTA- or PTSA president y senior year and we had record membership. Within the church I have been a member of the presidencies within our church youth groups. I have also been in charge of the music that we had at church. It has been amazing to show other people of our faith that you can be influential without having to lower your standards and that you can help the community and serve people even though you may receive criticism or bias. You can do all things through Christ!
