Hi I'm Michael

I grew up in Alberta. I've been called to serve in the Scotland/Ireland mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love a lot of different things: books, and TV, my family, drawing, singing, talking, geeky stuff, sharing the gospel, and learning. I was raised on a steady diet of Lord of the Rings, the Magic School Bus, and the scriptures. I'm a self-identified Whovian, I overthink things, and I'm prone to waffling on about trivial facts. I believe that hard work brings satisfaction and dignity, being obedient brings peace to the soul, and that God is far more involved in our lives than we realize. I love helping others learn: I worked as a tutor for a while, and teaching the gospel as a missionary is a joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church, and my parents raised me to believe in Christ. However, there comes a point when you can't rely on the faith of anyone else but yourself. I'm a naturally curious person, and that leads me to question things. I had to find out for myself whether or not this faith was true. In the Book of Mormon, in the very last chapter, it says to pray to ask God if the book isn't true. It says to question and find out for yourself, and then the Spirit will witness the truth of it. After seeking for a time, I received my answer. It didn't come in a big flash of light and noise, but calm and warm. A feeling that, while gentle, left no room for doubt as it resonated in my heart and mind that this was the truth. I know that Christ lives, and that this is His church on the earth.

How I live my faith

I'm serving a mission for the LDS Church in the Scotland/Ireland Mission. It's rainy and wonderful over here, and I live my faith by doing the simple things like trying to be better, following the examply that the Saviour set, and turning to the Lord when I'm weak or feel like I can't conquer on my on.
