Hi I'm Shalee

I'm a bio-veterinary graduate who loves rock climbing and exploring the outdoors... and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Idaho as the youngest of three children. All my life I have been privileged to work with animals and have grown a great appreciation for nature. The last four years I have had the opportunity to earn my degree with Honors in bio-veterinary science and intend to pursue a career in animal pathology. I love my family and enjoy spending time with them - they are my biggest support and I am so grateful for the knowledge that families are eternal. I love being outdoors so whenever I get the chance you will find me camping, hiking, rock climbing, or just going exploring in the local canyons. I also enjoy painting, volleyball, reading and swimming in my free time.

Why I am a Mormon

Quite simply, I am Mormon because this church makes me happy! Its teachings give me hope. It gives me courage. It has taught me truths which have strengthened me during the greatest hardships of my life. It has instilled in me the knowledge that I am a Child of God and that HE LOVES ME! That I can speak directly to My Father through prayer and that He will answer me. That because Christ endured such a desolate and lonely path, I will never have to be alone. That He will never fail me. That the atonement was personally for me so that I can become clean and be freed from guilt, shame, pain and fear. That there is a plan for me and that I have a purpose which extends beyond this world. My understanding of God has been increased as I have studied the Book of Mormon, and I feel His loving influence more strongly in my life when I strive to follow the scriptures and modern prophets of the Church. I know that Joseph Smith was really sent from God to establish His church, this church, on the earth once more. It is both a comfort and a blessing to know that families are eternal, that I will see my loved ones again beyond the veil. God has prepared a plan for all of us, a great plan of happiness, and although I do not know all things He has in store for me, I do know that if He brings me to it then He will bring me through it:)

How I live my faith

I live my faith by choosing to love each day. It's not always easy. In fact, it is a continual challenge - but I know that each day is a gift to me from my loving Heavenly Father. It is my responsibility to use that gift wisely in serving others and sharing His love. A 22-year-old such as myself, might not have power to change the entire world, but I do have the power to change another individual's world by sharing my time, talents, and beliefs or just by being a loving friend. As I have challenged myself to do so, I have felt greater love in my life in return. I am very active in my church, as well as in other organizations which promote education, service, proper health, and happy families. This service is simply an outward expression of a deeper commitment to seek after Christ and become more like Him.
