Hi I'm Jacob Buenning

I'm a missionary in Perú, I love music, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Sometimes I`m not exactly sure what to say when people ask me where I`m from. I was born in California, and i grew up in China and Singapore, and then moved to St. George, Utah when I was 13. My mom is from China, my dad from the States, and my last name comes from Germany. Now I am currently serving as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Peru, Piura mission, and it has been the most wonderful experience. I am a musician, I love listening, arranging, and performing. I play the violin, piano, guitar, and I am a vocalist. I also enjoy running and spending time with friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have read The Book of Mormon in its entirety, taken the prophet Moroni's promise to heart (Moroni 10:3-5), and prayed to our Father in Heaven and received revelation from Him of the truthfulness of The Book of Mormon. I have felt the hand of God in my life as He has helped me overcome trials and tribulations and that His love for us is everlasting. My father passed away a couple of years ago, and I have the knowledge that I will be with him again with the rest of my family. I am a Mormon because I know that God lives. I know the Bible and Book of Mormon to be records and testaments that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ, and the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind. I know that Jesus Christ died for us and atoned for our sins, our pains, and heartache. I know that it is through our Savior Jesus Christ that we can attain true happiness and feel peace throughout the raging storms in our lives. I know that because of Him, we can become.

How I live my faith

I was born and raised in the Church. My mother was a convert to the Church. I am an active member of the Church and am currently serving as a full time missionary in Perú. I have had the opportunity to serve in several callings before my mission. I have come to learn that the only true way to have happiness in this life is to live the teachings of Jesus Christ, and love and help others to do so as well. I try to live every day with gratitud in my heart for how I´ve been blessed and try to be a little better every day.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Jacob Buenning
Baptisms for the dead is a demonstration of God´s love for all of His children and how He really doesn´t want only a few to have the opportunity to return to live with Him again. God´s plan is so that everyone will have the same opportunity. There have been many people who have died without the chance to hear of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They also have the opportunity to accept or reject the Gospel. That is why members of the Church work to find information about their deceased ancestors to be able to realize these ordinances through proper priesthood authority. Show more Show less
