Hi I'm Andrew Decker

I've grown up around the world. I'm the oldest of 6 boys, a singer, a missionary, an Eagle Scout, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently Serving a Mandarin Chinese speaking mission in Edmonton, Canada. I'm a total nerd. I enjoy singing, playing saxophone, acting, and reading. I've been in several plays and always enjoy a good joke a good book and a good friend. I love listening to music, especially hymns; nothing brings a smile to my face faster than a good Mormon Tabernacle Choir or BYU Vocal Point performance. My Dad was an US. Air Force jet engine mechanic for 13 years, and as a result my family has been following him around the world, starting in Louisiana and moving to Italy, Iceland, Alaska, California, Missouri, and current base of operations would be Arkansas. Given so much travel time, we have a lot of emphasis on family bonds and serving one another. Going hand in hand with our extreme family life is our love of Scouting. I'm an Eagle Scout and any chance I get I go on a camp-out or help with a meeting or class. Above all, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I couldn't be happier with anything else.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a member of the Church is such a blessing for me. My faith in Christ and His prophets is one of the things in my life that help me through the trials I face. I always feel close to my Savior when I enter the temple or open the Book of Mormon. I strive to follow the commandments because it makes me a better person and I always love to see the smiles that are brought to the faces of those I serve.

How I live my faith

I'm now serving a mission in Edmonton Canada, speaking Mandarin Chinese of all things. I always enjoy participating in service projects and singing in the church choir. Of course, the greatest way I try to live my faith is by trying to be like The Savior. I'm always trying to progress and help others have joy and light in their lives.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Andrew Decker
Christ's atonement was the greatest event in the history of the world. It consists of Christ's suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, His death on the cross, and His Resurrection. Through His atonement, Christ took upon himself the penalty for our sins and conquered physical death. Because of His sacrifice, we will all live after this life, and we all have the opportunity to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
