Hi I'm Garett Johnson

I grew up in Washington. I'm going to school to become an accountant. I am married, have one little boy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in washington where I was able to spend a lot of the winter snowboarding, and some of my time in the summer Mt. biking. I had a job working on a blueberry farm when I was 12, and started my first "real" job when I was 16 working for a mining exploration company. I really enjoyed this job because It allowed me to go to a lot of new places, and meet a lot of new people. I didn't really enjoy highschool very much, so I enrolled in a program called running start where I was able to attend a community college in place of going to highschool. When I turned 19 I volunteered to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I was assigned to serve in the San Salvador, El Salvador East Mission. While I was in the Missionary Training Center I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and had to return home to undergo treatment. Six months later I finished chemotherapy, and I met the girl of my dreams. About another six months after that I was married in the Spokane, WA Temple. I now have one amazing little boy that is growing up faster than I would have ever imagined, and I'm excited to have a couple more kids in the future. I am currently in the Master's of Accountancy program at Brigham Young University and I plan to move to Dallas, TX when I graduate.

Why I am a Mormon

I was actually born into a family that were already members of the church. I was baptized with I was eight, and I have been a member ever since. As I have grown up and learned more about church, I have been able to learn for myself that I truly do believe in the church. I believe that the Prophet Joseph Smith was let and directed by God as he help restore the fullness of the gospel to the earth. I believe that we do have a Prophet on the earth today, being President Thomas S. Monson. I believe the Book of Mormon is the work of God, and that it is another testament of Jesus Christ, along with the Bible. I also believe that I have been sealed to my wife and child for time and eternity. I believe in God the Eternal Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. I'm a Mormon, and I believe and support all of the teaching of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as the First Councilor in the Bishopric of my ward I Provo Utah. In this calling I spend a lot of time with the bishop and looking after all the affairs of the ward. My ward is unique in that it has been designated for only married students, meaning that those who attend my ward are both married and currently pursuing some form of continued education. One of my other callings is to go and visit two other families in my ward each week where my companion and I take time to share a spiritual thought and make sure that the families are doing well.
