Hi I'm Liz

I'm a happy wife to a PA student, a mother to a sweet baby girl, a Dental Hygienist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the US but I grew up in Canada, I then headed to Utah for College where I met my husband when we were both just 18. We got married four years later and now we've been married for four wonderful years:). We became parents last November, when I gave birth to our sweet baby girl. We currently live in a beach town on the coast of Texas where my husband is attending a PA Masters program. I eat mostly vegetarian/vegan, and I like to read, play games, cook, bake, swim, snowboard, play volleyball and basketball, shop, occasionally blog, play on the beach, and spend time with friends. I am also a registered Dental Hygienist, I worked up until I was 7 months pregnant and I'm considering going back to work part time in the near future. My religion, my family, and the relationships I build with others are the most important things to me. I'm constantly trying to improve and to find ways to serve and give back to those around me.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 14 I started reading the Book of Mormon, just a little bit every day. After a couple months of consistent reading I noticed that I was just really happy. I felt positive, upbeat, I always seemed to have good thoughts going through my head and I just felt great. I realized that this was because of the influence of the Book of Mormon and that by reading a little every day I was allowing God's spirit into my life. And His love and His light and His words were changing me. I knew then that the Book of Mormon was truly from God, and if the Book of Mormon was true, then Joseph Smith really was a prophet and the church he restored was where I needed to be. Over the years as I have continued to read and re-read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father, His spirit has continued to testify to me that the doctrine taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. And I have seen the blessings that come from living these teaching in my life and in the lives of my family members. The church has brought nothing but good into my life and I wouldn't want to live any other way. It provides comfort when someone close to us dies, it provides hope and faith when life seems to be falling apart, it provides purpose and direction in a confused world, it provides love and light during dark times and it increases and adds to our joy during our happy moments. But at the end of the day it's not just a comforting fairy tale or some warm fuzzy belief system to help me get through hard days. It's true, it's real, this IS Christ's gospel, and His church and that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church every Sunday, reading the scriptures every day and praying often to God. I also watch and read uplifting talks and lectures. Right now I'm serving as a Ward Missionary at church, which means I help the missionaries reach to out to investigators and new members. I try to make them feel welcome at church and will often go out with the missionaries to teach people in their homes. I also try to follow the Savior's example by loving and serving those around me. By bringing a meal to a new mom, giving a ride to someone, talking to those around me, picking up trash, or just trying to be a good friend and neighbor.
