Hi I'm Bev Atherley

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a Mormon family. I have lived in Utah all my life. I love to create and I do many things to satisfy this desire. I make quilts, love to grow flowers, paint, crochet, and knit. I grow a vegetable garden and preserve most of what I grow. I worked as an academic tutor for 13 years. I loved working with children, helping those who struggled with reading and math. I retired from this to stay home and tend my grandchildren while their parents went to college. Family is very important to me. I want my grandchildren to know each other and develop a relationship with each other. I am very lucky to have all my grandchildren close so we can get together often. We have developed many family traditions that help us stay close.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in a God of order, a God who is a loving father, a God who still speaks to his children, a God who wants his children to come home to him with those they loved here on earth. I am a Mormon because I want to live with my husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family forever. I can do this by being worthy to go to the Temple and making covenants with my Father in Heaven. I am a Mormon because we have a living Prophet on the earth today. He speaks with God and receives instructions for us in this the latter days. I am a Mormon because I have a loving Father in Heaven who has let me know this is his church and has answered my prayers. I am a Mormon because I can be the best me possible by living his teachings. I am a Mormon because I love my Father in Heaven and want to serve him.

How I live my faith

I have several church jobs. I love my calling as a chorister for the Primary children. Music is so powerful in our lives. I know how important music can be in children's lives. Each month, we learn a new Gospel centered song. As I teach them the the song, I explain the message the song has. This helps them understand what they are singing. It is such a joy to hear them sing praises to our Father in Heaven. I also hold the calling of provident living leader. The church feels it is important to be self sufficient and to be prepared. We have been instructed to have food, clothing, and fuel for our needs for a year. We have been told to stay out of debt, to take care of our families, and to serve others who are in need. I grow a vegetable garden and have fruit trees so I can preserve food for my family's use. I know it is easier and sometimes cheaper to go to the store for these things but I like to control what is in my food and know If needed I can provide for us. It is also my responsibility to encourage others to be prepared.
