Hi I'm Chelle

I grew up in California. I like to sail boats and windsurf. I started my own jewelry business when I was fourteen . I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Texas but moved to Northern California when I was six years old. Growing up by the ocean I loved to go to the beach, I also loved hiking and camping in the beautiful hills and mountains around the Bay Area. When I was somewhere around ten, my Dad began sailing boats and slowly but surely I began to like it as well. When I was fifteen I also began trying to teach myself how to windsurf. I have played soccer for most of my life, enjoying positions such as forward and midfield, but specializing as a keeper - and extremely short keeper. I also participated in my high school's marching band and concert band. I played clarinet and french horn in school and dabbled in piano at home. My entire family loves music and one of my more favorite activities is when we will all get together and sing around the piano. Another thing that has defined me has been my jewelry making. I became interested in lapidary work on a whim from my parents and started making and selling jewelry before I was twelve. By the time I was fourteen I was making enough money to pay off my hobby and make enough profit to deserve a business name! Jewelry making has helped me pay my own way through college and I hope it will continue to do so. I recently began attending BYU in Provo UT where I love to ballroom and social dance and I am studying to be an actuary/statistician. Currently however I am serving an 18 month mission in Mexico City!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the gospel is true. There is no denying it. Just as I know that the earth revolves around the sun or that plate tectonics cause earthquakes, I know that the LDS church is true. You may not always see everything, but I can testify that I see the effects. I see the effects and evidence of a loving God and savior Jesus Christ. I have felt the Holy Spirit prompt me and warn me and lead me to happiness. I am a Mormon because it is hard, it is defining, and it is worth it. Sure, a lot of the word vehemently disagrees, but being able to defend your arguments even when so many want you to be wrong, is an evidence of strength and validity in and of itself. It also allows you to dig deep and ask yourself why and I doing this - and it is because it is true and I believe in truth. It also allows you to recognize that some things are worth fighting for and defending - no matter what age or state.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to keep my religion everyday and become a better person in every possible situation. I look for the hand of the Lord in all the little things in life, from beautiful sunsets to powerful mountains, from friendly gestures to attentive family members. I attend my church meetings every week and pray and read my scriptures mornings and night. I have served in church as a teacher for the women and have enjoyed preparing lessons and material that will help them and that they need to hear. There is nothing more poignant and gratifying than when another women comes up to me and tells me that something I said or alluded to really struck her and effected her positively. Its then I know that I am effectively being used to deliver the Lord's messages. I have decided to serve the Lord further by going on an 18 month mission to Mexico City, Mexico! I am extremely excited and not a little bit anxious about this new turn my life will take but I know without a shadow o a doubt that it is what the Lord wants me to do and therefore he will provide a way for my to accomplish his purpose. I love that I know that my Heavenly Father has a plan for me and if I maintain on the course he prescribes I will achieve the greatest possible overall success and happiness. I also live my faith by every day looking to help those around me. whether it is moving projects or yard work or bigger humanitarian aid projects, I know that I am living a Christ like life by being on the lookout to serve and joyfully doing so. In high school I participated in several large service projects effectively donating thousands of dollars in instruments and monetary aid to band programs victims of budget cuts or natural disasters. more recently I have worked in food banks and community gardens.
