Hi I'm Maggie

I love books and movies, cats and birds, Renaissance and Regency, Karate, and dessert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy lots of different hobbies, and I like to try new things. I grew up on a farm and have always loved animals. Reading has become one of my favorite pastimes, and I frequent the movies (popcorn is a must). I hold a 2nd degree black belt in karate.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Methodist church and with faith in God and Jesus Christ. My family went to church often when I was young, but as I got older, we went mostly on holidays and special occasions. After graduating college, I attended the Lutheran church, because it was across the street from my apartment and because I enjoyed their music program and singing in the choir. When I moved to my first home, I began thinking of attending the church where my brother's family were members. Shortly after, sister missionaries knocked on my door and shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with me. What they taught me felt right, and it struck a chord in my heart. When they taught me Heavenly Father's Plan of Salvation and that we existed before we came to earth and about what happens to us after we leave this mortal world, I knew it was true. I read the Book of Mormon, and I prayed. I attended church meetings, made friends, and felt the Holy Spirit testify to me with a feeling of peace and comfort that what I was learning was true. My testimony did not come all at once, and I'm still learning after being baptized several years ago, but I was never as happy before knowing how much our Father in Heaven loves each one of us. He has a plan for us all! He has blessed us each with gifts and talents, and we're here to learn and grow and use those gifts to bless those around us. I'm a Mormon, because I've felt the power of the Holy Spirit testify to me many times that Christ has established His church in all it's fullness of doctrine and priesthood to the earth once more.

How I live my faith

Serving in the Church is one of the best ways to make new friends and feel Heavenly Father's love for you and for others. I've had opportunities to teach, lead, and counsel and even direct choirs. Opportunities I never would have had outside church. Daily prayer and scripture study helps me to keep my faith at the forefront of each day. These things provide guidance and direction to me. I try my best to be worthy of Heavenly Father's blessings, and I'm so grateful that even though I fall short and make mistakes, my Savior Jesus Christ has Atoned for my shortcomings and sins. I live with knowledge of the hope the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring to all of us. By doing those small and simple things such as praying, reading scriptures, going to church, etc. and by doing the best we can each day, we can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and the power of God the Eternal Father guiding our lives.
