Hi I'm Janet Lightheart

I am first and foremost a wife and a mother. My husband and I have six amazing children. Our family means everything to us.

About Me

I grew up on a potato farm in Idaho. Many of my ancestors were Mormon Pioneers. My parents are faithful, devote members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through their example, I learned how living a Christ-like life is a blessing to not only myself but to all those around me. When I was fifteen years old, my father was called as Mission President in Colombia. I loved living in South America. I loved the people, the language, the food, and the land. I also loved seeing how the gospel changed the lives of those around us. My husband and I have six children, two of which are currently serving missions for our church. We live in Medford, Oregon. We stay busy with their activities: school, sports, music, and church. Our most enjoyable moments are when we participate in church activities, read the scriptures, and have discussions about the gospel in our lives. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Southern Oregon University. I'm excited to get my teaching license and be more involved in education in Medford.

Why I am a Mormon

Why not be a Mormon? I can think of no better way to find joy and happiness than through the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I have seen the blessings of being a Mormon. Some may feel that there are restrictions in being a member of the Church, but I have found way more freedom through turning to God and following his precepts than I could imagine otherwise.

How I live my faith

Drawing close to my Heavenly Father through prayer and service to others has always been important to me. I have especially learned the importance of Jesus Christ in my life. We can be empowered through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I love life. We all go through heartache and suffering but I have learned that gratitude for God can help us see the beauty in the life around us. I love my family. Most of my joy comes from my family and being a wife and mother. I love spending time with my husband and children. I love people. I love to see and experience the joy that others feel. I also have concern for those who are struggling. Helping others has always been an integral part of my life. I love to teach. Jesus Christ was the exemplar in teaching. I try to learn from his example. I love working with youth and seeing their excitement in discovering truths around them. I love being a Mormon and sharing the blessing of the gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
