Hi I'm Kirby

I'm an Information Technology major. I'm a Tour Guide at the Polynesian Cultural Center. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a Filipino and I serve my mission in my home country - in the Philippines Davao Mission. I'm now studying at Brigham Young University-Hawaii and my major is Information Technology. I love technology, computers and stuffs like that. I also love playing basketball. I like anime.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born mormon. Meaning, both of my parents are very active in the church when I was born. Upon growing up, I was taught about my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ and my relationship to them. I was also taught about prophets and that we have a living prophets until today. I was also taught that this church is the only true and living church in this world. And that Joseph Smith is a prophet called to be an instrument in restoring the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was taught about the Book of Mormon as another testimony of the living Christ, together with the Bible. But as I grow up in maturity, I constantly ask myself if all this things are really true. During those times, I still really don't know for sure about the reality of these things. Am I here in this church just because my parents were here? I need to know it myself. So I decided to search, study, and experiment by myself. And after that, I keep asking God if these things are true or not. And as I do these things, God answers me thru feelings I can't explain. It is a feeling of assurance and approval that what I'm asking are an absolute truth. Now I know for certain, by the power of the Holy Ghost, that Jesus is the Christ and this is His church. That Joseph Smith is a prophet from God, and that the Book of Mormon is true. I know with all my heart that Heavenly Father lives and He loves us. Now that I knew it for myself, even my very parents tells me that these things were all lies, I won't believe them. For this testimony I gain for myself is from God, and not from anyone else.

How I live my faith

My current calling in the church is Ward Sunday School President. My main duty is to make sure that teaching and learning in the church were done in a way that would help the members have a their own spiritual experiences when they attend classes in the church. It is very challenging for me but I enjoy it. I also love doing my home teaching and I have a deep concern for the people whom I serve.
