Hi I'm Spencer Jeppson

I just finished my freshman year at BYU, love nature and music and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a family with one older sister and three younger brothers. We are big enough to make a lot of noise, but we enjoy spending time together. I have great memories of going on yearly father son campouts at the beach. We had a great time together building things in the sand, playing in the water, and hanging out around the campfire. I have completed a year of college and I am studying chemistry. Chemistry is difficult, but I enjoy it immensely. Some things I enjoy when I'm not studying are music, playing ultimate frisbee and being out in nature. I play the violin and the piano and sing in my church choir. Playing music makes me feel happy. I joined my high school's ultimate frisbee club my senior year. We started out playing once a day, but loved it so much we ended up playing every lunch period. I love to bike, hike and backpack--anything out in nature. One of my favorite places is Yosemite National Park and the surrounding wilderness. I ran four years of cross country and track in high school and I started cycling when I was 12. Running in high school was a big commitment. We practiced almost year round. I learned discipline, toughness and time management. One of my proudest moments came when as a 12 year old, I rode my bike 170 miles from my hometown to Yosemite. That taught me that I could do hard things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and I always knew it was true. As I have followed the teachings of Jesus and the prophets, read the Book of Mormon and attended church meetings, I have seen great blessings in my life. The gospel has brought me happiness that I know I cannot find anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I have received a call to serve as a full-time missionary in Osorno Chile for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am so excited for this opportunity to help others draw nearer to Christ and to gain their own testimony of the gospel. I know I will have a lot to learn, but the experiences I have already had have helped me to prepare for this new adventure. I love to serve others and participate in church service projects. In the young men organization of the church, I had the opportunity to visit and serve elderly and ill members at the local veterans' hospital. Those experiences helped to strengthen my testimony of Jesus' love for all people. I also enjoy teaching and visiting other members who live near me and growing myself from their examples. The gospel of Christ has blessed my life as I have been able to make good decisions at school and with my friends even when those choices weren't popular. I have had numerous opportunities to learn responsibility and to give service from assignments given to me at church. I have been asked to play the piano and also lead the music for one of our Sunday meetings. I also had responsibilities to help with the youth organization. In my college congregation I was responsible for helping keep the appointment calendar for a member of our bishopric (local congregation leaders). I learned a lot from working closely with these good men.
