Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in Virginia. I'm a single parent. I love my Savior. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single Mom of a daughter who is in college. I work part-time at the local community college and take care of my Mom. I enjoy working with the students and enter acting with them. education is very important to me and for that reason, I went back to school and earned a BA in History. I graduated three years ago. I have lived in Salem my entire life and can't imagine living anywhere else. I have two living brothers whom I love every much. I have a wonderful sister-in-law and two terrific nephews. Family is extremely important to me. I love to read. I read lots of different kinds of books fiction and non-fiction. My favorite Holiday is Christmas. I love the cooking, decorating and giving to others.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church however as a teenager I quit attending. I apostatized for about 25 years. When I was 38 years old I had a baby. It was at this time that I knew that I needed to turn my life around and return to what I knew was true. I knew that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ that I could repent and be forgiven of my sins. Over the past 20+ years, I have been fully active and raised my beautiful daughter in the gospel. She served an honorable mission and touched the lives of the people that she served in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission. I know that I was blessed by my Heavenly Father for making the decision to return to the fold. I love this gospel. I know that God lives and he knows me personally. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Redeemer of the world. He died not only for me but for all of us. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today even Thomas S. Monson. I also know that Joseph Smith is the prophet of the Restoration. I am grateful to be a member of the Lord's church. I am grateful for a Great-grandmother who invited those missionaries into her home so long ago and was baptized. I know that as I live the truths of the gospel, I am happy and am able to handle the trials that come my way. I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Currently I am the secretary in our women's organization. I have also taught the primary age children as well as the youth. I have attended girl's camp with our young women as one of their adult leaders. I sing in the choir, which I absolutely love. Monthly along with my visiting teaching companion, I visit my assigned sisters. We give a lesson and fellowship with theses ladies. If there is a need in the family, we try to fulfill that need whether it be temporal or spiritual. I am always willing to serve in any way that I can. I hope the way that I live my life is an example to those that I come in contact.
