Hi I'm Bev Parker

I'm married, have a great husband & family, and worked 28 years as a camp director. I love people, to read, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and recently retired camp director and financial controller for a family camp and conference center. I grew up loving the mountains and had the opportunity to work in the mountains professionally with my husband for almost 30 years! We raised our six children in the mountains where we worked together as a family. I have a BS degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership. I love working with people of all ages. I have recently received a call to serve as a full time missionary with my husband to work with young single adults of our church in Copenhagen, Denmark. We are very excited for this new assignment and look forward to learning many new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon, but have always had the choice to believe or not to believe. I made the choice as a young teenager to follow the Church's teachings as they always showed a better way to live than what many of the standards of the world had to offer, especially to young people. I have "tested" my church's doctrines and beliefs by living them in order to prove them correct. I have never been disappointed! I have a strong testimony of prayer, because God has answered my personal prayers many, many times, and sometimes in a very detailed manner. Sometimes the answers come quickly, and sometimes I have had to wait for God's timing, but He has always answered. I know He is aware of me as His daughter, and is concerned about how I feel and what I am dealing with in life. I wish all people could have that understanding and the resulting blessings and peace it brings in the trials of life that all encounter. I believe strongly in the Savior Jesus Christ, so much so that I have chosen to be a full time missionary for the next few years. I will be serving with my husband to share this knowledge with others so that they, too, may find the happiness in living that I have known my entire life.

How I live my faith

I have spent my whole life participating and serving in many capacities in my church. I have worked with youth of all ages including Scouting, in women's organizations, as a teacher, pianist, organist, and conductor of music, activities coordinator, and with the elderly. I believe that serving others is one of the most important things we can do in life, and our church literally provides hundreds of opportunities to do so. Each day I study the scriptures, pray, and try to act in the way that Jesus Christ taught. He is my exemplar and guide in all I try to do. Following His example gives a pattern to follow in my life, and though I sometimes fall short, it gives me the proper goal towards which I should aim. I, in turn, especially want to be a good example for my own children and grandchildren to follow. I feel it is important for them to learn to think of others and to set goals for their own lives that will help them to be happy, and to make others happy as well.
