Hi I'm John

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am a lifeguard, a swim instructor and a soccer referee. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love spending time outdoors. I love to camp and have climbed Half Dome three times. One of my favorite hiking and camping trips was to the Ventena Wilderness. I love to sing and have been in performances of Grease, West Side Story, Newsies and Rent. Right now I am serving as a missionary in the Illinois Chicago West Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Studying the scriptures helps me understand my part in Heavenly Father's plan of Happiness. He wants us to be happy. He has given us a road map to follow to help us make the choices that will lead to ultimate happiness. Part of his plan was having his Son, Jesus Christ, come and set an example for us to follow, and atone for our sins. I am am Mormon because I know I am a child of God, that God's church is restored on the earth today, and that we have living prophets to lead and direct us today.

How I live my faith

Christ led a life of service. Being a Mormon has given me many opportunities to serve others. I have painted schools, re-landscaped the area in front of a fire station, removed barbed wire fences from regional park areas, helped prepare a local historic building for its grand opening, and volunteered in elementary schools teaching computer programming. I am always looking for ways to give personal service by being a friend to someone who is lonely, reaching out to someone who I haven't seen for awhile, and looking for ways I can help others.
