Hi I'm McKay

I'm a drummer, singer, and songwriter. I love sports, music, dancing, and simply having fun! I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love music! Specifically, I am a drummer, singer, and songwriter. I also play guitar, though not at the same level as my other instruments. I have sung since I was very little, but I didn't start drumming until I was 13. Despite this, I discovered that it was truly one of my God-given talents, as it came naturally to me and I progressed quickly. I enjoy it very much, and have been lucky enough to play in several bands throughout my high school years, both as a drummer and a vocalist. I hope to have a successful career as a musician and to be a positive influence on the world through the music I write and play. I have been called to serve as a missionary in the Brazil Porto Alegre South Mission!! I am so excited to serve there! After my mission, I have a music scholarship at BYU awaiting me.

Why I am a Mormon

I have many reasons for being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, aka being a "Mormon". First off, I know that this church is truly the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness, restored to the Earth by Him through the prophet Joseph Smith - yes, he was really a prophet of God! I have prayed to know for myself if it is all true - the Book of Mormon, the Church, the living prophet Thomas S. Monson, the Bible, etc. The feelings that I have felt time and time again in my heart about these things confirm to me over and over that they all are really true! I know that Christ is our Savior, and because of Him, I can be clean and have Eternal Life. Because of Him, I have someone I can always turn to, someone who knows all my pains, my fears, my weaknesses, and who knows exactly how to help me and turn those weaknesses into strengths. Because of Him, I can be resurrected after I die, and His Gospel makes it possible for me to be together with my family for all eternity. I know that living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way for mankind to have salvation - the only way for me, for you, and for us all to have lasting, eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

Until we leave on our missions, my best friend and I have been called to teach the mission prep class in our local Young Single Adult (YSA) ward (congregation). In addition to this, I look for opportunities to serve people in my neighborhood and wherever I go regularly, because I know that serving others serves God, and that it is a commandment to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Another calling I have is serving as a home-teacher to 2 families in my home ward. As their home-teacher, I am responsible to watch out for them and make sure they're doing okay, as well as to go to their home once a month to teach a formal Gospel lesson. Also, I'm simply there as a friend to all the family members.
