Hi I'm Chris

I am a father of two amazing children and a husband to the most beautiful wife. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 31 year old husband and father living in the Tampa, FL area of the United States. While I was born in South Africa, my family moved back to the States when I was one. I have always been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with my parents converting about fifteen years before I was born. I am so grateful for their decision to be baptized. My membership in the Church has blessed my life abundantly. After moving from South Africa my family moved to upstate NY, but I basically grew up in Cape Cod, MA and was the youngest of seven kids until I was 15 years old when my baby brother, Josh, was born. I am currently in my last year of school and working towards my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering degree. Some of my interests and hobbies include; online gaming, extreme sports such as skydiving and cliff diving, catching blue crabs with my family, snorkeling and going to the beach.

Why I am a Mormon

Life is better as a Mormon. Plain and simple. Being a member of the Church gives my life meaning, direction and purpose. As one of my favorite primary songs says, "I know who I am! I know God's plan! I'll follow Him in faith." To know where I come from and where I want to be when this mortal life is over, keeps me on the straight and narrow path. The peace the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings to me life is one of the biggest blessings I can receive.

How I live my faith

My faith is not just a Sunday thing. I live it every minute of every day. There are several ways in which I do this, with a few examples being the fact that I pray to my Father in Heaven on a daily basis, both personally and with my family. I attend church faithfully, I keep myself worthy of taking the sacrament and attending the temple, I try my best to magnify callings I've been asked to serve in, I try to treat people the way I think Christ would treat them if He were here today, I honor and sustain my Church leaders, my wife and I do our best to have Family Home Evenings every Monday night as instructed by priesthood leaders and I do my best to keep my covenants that I've made with Heavenly Father.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Chris
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we have been asked to wear our "Sunday best," which includes suits and ties for the men and modest dresses or skirts of the women. Children, generally, are also in their Sunday best as well. Members of the Church celebrate both mainstream and cultural holidays a along with birthdays, anniversaries. The most important holidays to members of the Church, as with any other Christian church, are both Easter and Christmas, which are regarded as the most spiritually significant days in history because of the birth, suffering, death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
