Hi I'm Richard

I grew up in California. I am a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and my life has truly been blessed.

About Me

I am a blessed husband to my Jr High School sweetheart. A loving father to our 2 beautiful daughters. My happiness and joy in life come from doing anything with my family. I also enjoy helping others with house hold projects, from pouring concrete in the back yard to doing electrical work inside. When time permits I enjoy playing basketball, hiking, golfing, anything to get me out doors. Now that our daughters are adults I have really enjoyed the transition of my fatherly attention back to the one person who has truly given everything and is everything to our family, My eternal Sweetheart.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife and I are converts to the Church. Our decision to be baptized into the church was a long process. As a young married couple we started out in life like most, struggling to survive while trying to better ourselves. We quickly came to the conclusion, that there had to be more to life than the everyday grind of trying to provide and survive. We started talking about God and His Son Jesus Christ. We talked about going to church but wasn't sure which one to attend. So, we just started visiting a few churches in the area. We were not sure what we were looking for, but we kept going knowing we needed something. We met with several sets of missionaries before we committed to not only taking the discussions, but trying to live the principles that we were being taught . We met another young couple who were members that not only became our best friends but became our spiritual mentors. They not only gave us their friendship , but they gave us their time. Whenever we had a question or a need, they were always there to serve. As a result of their efforts and Christ like love, we are members today. We now have strong testimonies of the Gospel and look for opportunities to share the gospel with others like our friends shared with us. Our lives have been truly blessed as we have committed to serving the Lord by serving others.

How I live my faith

I have always felt that the best thing that I can contribute to my community is to be a devoted and loving husband and to teach my children (by example) how to help others. To look for ways to brighten someones day. A smile, a kind word, any gesture that lets them know that you see them and you care. . I look for opportunities wherever I am to help others with anything and everything (something that I learned from my father). I enjoy meeting new people and talking to them to get to know them. I have worked with our young men at church for many years and there is no greater joy outside of my family than to assist Heavenly Father in helping these young boys become great men. To be valiant servants to God, to be loving and helpful participants in their families. To be great examples of Christ like love to all they meet. Hopefully applying these teachings as they become loving devoted husbands and fathers themselves. Of all these acts of service, there is one that I feel most important above all. Charity begins at home. Making sure that my family has all that they need in life is the most important thing to me. I feel blessed to have the ability to work to provide for their needs.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is the Father of all our spirits, He knows and loves each one of us. His desire is for each one of his children to return to live in his presence. He created us in his own image, so we know that we look like him. Gods love for us is without end as He sent His Son Jesus Christ to atone for any and all our mistakes through repentance. God is a wonderful, loving Father who listens to each one of his children, as we pray to Him and ask for assistance, He will always respond to those who have faith to call on Him. Show more Show less
